What is the VPC Type 39VM?
The Type 39VM is a Swiss-made automatic dive watch designed by Max Resnick. VPC’s official product page presents it as a limited-production model and gives its central combination as a 39 mm case, 200 m water resistance and 9.34 mm total thickness, measured including the crystal. VPC’s “thinnest” wording should be read as the brand’s claim, not as a verified ranking. The launch coverage from Fratello, Hodinkee and MONOCHROME reports the claim, but the sources do not provide a current comparison of every watch that could qualify. Hodinkee rounds the thickness to 9.4 mm; VPC’s stated figure is 9.34 mm, including the crystal.

Dial, bracelet and strap options
Two dial colors
Graphite is the black option; Frost is white or silvery. Both are described as matte, textured dials with BGW9 Super-LumiNova. Check VPC’s live product page for which dial is available at the time of purchase, because its stock note reports different status by color.
VPC’s quick-release system
The bracelet and HNBR rubber strap use VPC’s single-button quick-release mechanism. VPC also says the Type 39VM is compatible with the original 20 mm bracelet from its Type 37HW. The listed 20 mm width is not, by itself, confirmation that arbitrary third-party straps fit the case or use the same release system.

The bracelet tapers from 20 mm at the case to 16 mm and has a toolless micro-adjust clasp. The rubber option is black HNBR with a custom pin buckle. These are the brand’s described configuration details; the available sources do not establish compatibility with generic quick-release straps.

VPC’s product page currently displays a starting price of €2,768 excluding taxes. Its stock note says some Frost watches remain, while Graphite is sold out pending a later production batch. The note refers to an arrival in “January” without specifying a year, so it does not establish a current delivery date. Check the live product page and checkout for current pricing, stock and shipping terms. The 7–9 month delivery window reported at launch was a forecast at that time, not a current promise.

Production quantity also varies by source: VPC’s official page says the watch is limited to 300 pieces, while launch coverage reports 300–500 or a maximum of 500. These figures should not be collapsed into a single confirmed production total. If the exact number matters, VPC’s published figure is 300, with the discrepancy noted in launch reporting. The published dimensions give buyers a useful basis for judging the watch’s proportions: 39 mm across, 47 mm lug-to-lug and 9.34 mm thick including the crystal. That is the manufacturer’s measurement basis; the sources do not provide an independent measurement or a complete set of competitor measurements made on the same basis. Nor do the specifications alone establish on-wrist comfort, real-world water resistance or comparative value.

For a meaningful comparison with another dive watch, check total thickness including crystal, water-resistance rating, movement type, diameter and lug-to-lug length, attachment compatibility, price and actual availability. The Type 39VM’s thinness claim is specifically VPC’s market positioning, not an independently proven record.
