The Citizen Series 8 / 831 Mechanical Ice Blue Limited Edition, reference NB6051-59L, is a 40 mm automatic watch built around a faceted steel case, integrated-style bracelet and embossed ice-blue dial. Its 100 m water resistance and time-and-date layout suit everyday wear; its defining detail is the geometric dial, paired with a limited production run reported at 1,800 pieces worldwide.
What is the Citizen NB6051-59L?
It is a Series 8 / 831 Mechanical model, the streamlined time-and-date branch of Citizen’s Series 8 range. The watch combines an octagonal, faceted stainless-steel case with a steel bracelet and an ice-blue dial. Brushed and polished surfaces add contrast to the case and H-shaped bracelet links, giving it a sporty look without relying on a bulky case.
The launch report described the dial’s embossed geometric pattern as inspired by sunlight reflecting on clear blue water. Applied faceted markers and hands are luminous, and a date display sits alongside the hours, minutes and central seconds.
Case, dial and bracelet
| Specification | Citizen NB6051-59L |
|---|---|
| Case | Faceted, octagonal stainless steel; 40 mm diameter and 11.6 mm thick |
| Crystal and caseback | Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating; transparent caseback |
| Water resistance | 100 m, as stated in the February 2025 launch report |
| Dial and display | Embossed ice-blue geometric dial; luminous applied markers and hands; hours, minutes, seconds and date |
| Bracelet | Steel H-shaped links with brushed and polished finishes; folding clasp with push-button release |
The 40 mm diameter is a useful point of reference, but it does not by itself determine how the watch will fit: wrist shape, the bracelet’s articulation and the distance from lug to lug also matter. The launch report does not state a lug-to-lug measurement. Its transparent back reveals the automatic movement, while the sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating.

Calibre 9051: movement and performance figures
The NB6051-59L uses Citizen automatic calibre 9051. The launch report gives 24 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a 42-hour power reserve and a stop-seconds function, which halts the seconds hand when setting the time. Citizen’s stated average accuracy is -10/+20 seconds per day; these are published specifications, not results from an independent test of an individual watch.
A 42-hour reserve means the watch may stop if left unworn beyond that interval, depending on how fully it was wound. The stop-seconds function can help when setting the time precisely, while the date display keeps the layout practical for daily use.

Who the Ice Blue Limited Edition may suit
- For everyday versatility: the time-and-date display, steel construction and reported 100 m water resistance make it an easy-to-understand daily-wear proposition. Water resistance is a rating, not a guarantee of suitability for every water activity; follow Citizen’s care guidance for the specific watch.
- For a distinctive dial: the embossed geometric pattern and pale blue color give the watch more visual presence than a plain, flat dial.
- For a compact sporty profile: the 40 mm case diameter and 11.6 mm thickness provide concrete sizing figures, though fit depends on the wearer’s wrist and the watch’s full geometry.
- For a limited-run model: the reported 1,800-piece production quantity may appeal to collectors, but limited production alone does not establish future resale value or current availability.
