There is evidence that Dior is renewing its watchmaking ambitions, but not enough to establish a company-wide strategic shift. The clearest signal is the Chiffre Rouge collection, which Dior says it reinvented twenty years after its launch. The range brings back distinctive Dior design codes and uses Swiss-made automatic movements; its chronographs use the Zenith El Primero. That is meaningful product development, not proof of Dior-watch-specific investment, sales growth or a new corporate strategy.

The announcement shows renewed attention to a signature watch line, though Dior does not frame it as a broader declaration about the future of its watch business.
The collection’s design is more than a conventional round case with a logo added. Dior describes an architectural, asymmetric case made in two parts, with the crown at four o’clock. Cannage—the house’s signature woven pattern—appears on the dial and the movement’s oscillating weight. The number eight, which Dior identifies as Monsieur Dior’s lucky number, appears in red on the date disc. What movement is in a Dior Chiffre Rouge chronograph?
Dior says Chiffre Rouge watches use automatic movements manufactured in Switzerland, and specifically identifies the Zenith El Primero in Chiffre Rouge Chronograph models. The brand also says a sapphire caseback reveals the movement and its cannage decoration. This identifies the chronograph’s movement, but Dior’s cited material does not provide independent performance testing or model-by-model technical specifications beyond those descriptions. Which Chiffre Rouge models and details does Dior highlight?
Dior’s US feature page describes three watch designs. Two are 41 mm chronographs with midnight-blue dials; one of those has a rose-gold bezel and bumper. The third has a pink mother-of-pearl dial and a rose-gold bezel set with diamonds. Dior also says artisans hand-fit the red seconds hand. These are the brand’s descriptions, not independent assessments of construction or finishing.

Does this prove Dior is making a wider strategic push?
No. A redesigned collection with a named movement and clear house signatures supports the narrower conclusion that Dior is developing its watch offering. The cited Dior pages do not establish Dior-watch-specific spending, sales, management changes or a broader company strategy. The available evidence is strongest at the product level.

Christian Dior’s 2025 financial release reported €10.577 billion in 2024 revenue for the group’s Watches & Jewelry category, a 2% organic decline versus 2023, and a 28% decline in recurring operating profit. The release attributed part of the profit decline to store renovation and communications investment, as well as currency fluctuations. These are group-category figures, not Dior-watch results; they cannot show how Chiffre Rouge or Dior watches performed. The Christian Dior financial information page provides the group reporting.
Leadership announcements do not fill that gap. In March 2025, LVMH said Frédéric Arnault was then CEO of LVMH Watches, responsible for Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith, and that his replacement would be announced shortly. That announcement does not say Dior watches were placed under LVMH Watches, so it should not be read as evidence of a change in Dior’s watchmaking structure. LVMH’s appointments announcement names the brands within that remit.

What can a buyer conclude from the available information?
Chiffre Rouge gives buyers a concrete reason to take Dior’s current watch offering seriously: an identifiable design language, Swiss-made automatic movements and a Zenith El Primero in the chronographs. It does not, on the cited evidence, answer the usual ownership questions about current prices, accuracy, durability, servicing or value retention. Those points need model-specific information from Dior or an authorized retailer, and independent evidence where performance is concerned.
