Casio lists the DW-5600UE-1 as water resistant to 200 meters. For watches marked 20 BAR, Casio’s guidance includes swimming and skin diving, but excludes scuba diving and other diving that requires air tanks. “Waterproof” is not a precise promise about every DW-5600: check the marking and manual for your exact model, and remember that age, damage or worn seals can affect an individual watch.

What the DW-5600’s 200-meter rating means

Casio’s India product page lists the DW-5600UE-1 with 200-meter water resistance. Casio’s operation guidance places watches marked 20 BAR in a category that permits water-related work, swimming, windsurfing and skin diving. The rating is the manufacturer’s published specification, not a guarantee that a particular watch—especially a used, damaged or previously opened one—still has that resistance.

A depth figure should not be read as permission to use the watch at that depth in real-world conditions. Follow the activity guidance and limitations in the manual for your exact model rather than treating the rating as a diving-depth guarantee.

Can you swim, shower or scuba dive with a DW-5600?

Swimming

Swimming is among the uses Casio lists for watches marked 20 BAR. Confirm that your specific DW-5600 has the corresponding marking and follow its manual.

Showering and hot water

Casio advises avoiding baths, heated swimming pools, saunas, high-temperature or high-humidity environments, and exposure to soaps or detergents. These conditions can reduce water resistance and may cause the glass to fog. For that reason, showering is not a use to recommend, particularly when heat and soap are involved.

Scuba and air-tank diving

Do not use the watch for scuba diving or other diving that requires air tanks. Casio states this explicitly in its Operation Guide 5605. Casio’s 20 BAR guidance includes skin diving, but that does not override the air-tank-diving warning.

How to care for water resistance

  • Keep the buttons untouched when wet or submerged. Casio warns that pressing buttons in these conditions can reduce water resistance and cause the glass to fog.
  • Rinse off seawater. After seawater exposure, rinse away salt and dirt with plain water.
  • Avoid heat and cleaning products. Baths, heated pools, saunas, hot or humid environments, soaps and detergents can affect water resistance.
  • Maintain the gaskets. Casio recommends periodic gasket replacement—about every two or three years—to help maintain water resistance. The interval is guidance from the Operation Guide 5605, not proof that a watch remains water resistant until that point.

Check the exact model and the watch’s condition

DW-5600 is a family name, not one universal specification. Casio’s 200-meter listing cited here applies to the DW-5600UE-1 on its India site. Check the water-resistance marking on your watch’s back cover and consult the manual for its model or module; the guidance cited here includes Casio Operation Guides 5607 and 5605.

If a watch is old, damaged or has been opened, its original water resistance cannot be assumed from the family name or a product-page specification. Moisture under the crystal is also a reason not to expose it to water. Ask Casio service or a qualified watch repair professional to inspect it; a rinse or visual check cannot restore or confirm water resistance.
