Yes. Casio lists the G-Shock GMA-S2100 as water resistant to 20 bar, also described as 200-meter water resistance. Casio’s guidance for 20BAR watches includes swimming, windsurfing and skin diving—but specifically excludes scuba diving and other diving that requires air tanks. The rating is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee that every individual watch, especially an older one, remains sealed.
What does the GMA-S2100’s water-resistance rating mean?
Casio’s official GMA-S2100-1A specifications state both “20 bar water resistant” and “200-meter water resistance.” The GMA-S2100-4A listing carries the same rating. These are Casio’s product specifications; they do not establish the current condition of a particular watch.

For how to use that rating, Casio’s Operation Guide 5611 says watches marked 20BAR are suitable for water-related work, swimming, windsurfing and skin diving. The depth figure should not be read on its own as permission for every kind of diving.

Can you swim or skin dive with the GMA-S2100?
Casio’s 20BAR guidance supports swimming, windsurfing and skin diving. Follow the manual’s operating and care instructions during and after water exposure. In particular, do not press the buttons while the watch is wet or submerged.

Can you scuba dive with a G-Shock GMA-S2100?
No. Casio’s Operation Guide 5611 says: “Do not use your watch for scuba diving or other types of diving that requires air tanks.” The 200-meter specification does not override that explicit restriction.
How should you care for the watch around water?
- Do not operate the buttons when the watch is wet or underwater.
- Avoid wearing it in a bath, heated swimming pool, sauna or other high-temperature, high-humidity environment.
- Avoid exposing it to soaps and detergents.
- After seawater exposure, rinse off salt and dirt with plain water.
Does an older GMA-S2100 retain its water resistance?
Not necessarily. A printed 20-bar rating describes the model’s specification, not the present condition of a used watch. Casio recommends periodic gasket replacement, approximately every two or three years. Its guide also says a trained technician checks water resistance when replacing the battery. For an older watch or one with an uncertain service history, do not assume the original rating proves it is still sealed.
