The Flik Flak 3-2-1 LIFTOFF! (reference FPNP094) is designed to make an analog watch feel approachable: its blue hour cues and red minute cues give a child two visual signposts for reading the time. That makes it a plausible first watch, especially for a child drawn to its NASA theme—but the available evidence supports a thoughtful design, not proof that it teaches every child to tell time.
What the 3-2-1 LIFTOFF! is
Flik Flak identifies the 3-2-1 LIFTOFF! as model FPNP094 and describes it as an educational, NASA-themed children’s watch. Its stated purpose is to help children learn to tell time. The official FPNP094 listing describes it as a white, blue and red watch for learning to read the time.
Why the dial may suit a beginner
In a January 5, 2023 review, Fratello’s guest author Philip Blumer describes the dial’s color system: blue numerals and an hour hand mark the hours; red five-minute numerals and a minute hand indicate minutes; white markers and a seconds hand identify seconds. The matching colors give a child a simple way to distinguish the two main hands before learning to read them together.
Blumer also says the color cues helped him explain the hands to his four-year-old daughter. That is one parent’s experience, not an educational study or a guarantee that every child will find the dial intuitive. A child can still need an adult to explain that the shorter hand tracks hours while the longer hand tracks minutes.

Fit, materials and water resistance
Fratello’s 2023 account reports a 31.85 mm case diameter measured including the crown, a white bio-based plastic case, a recycled PET strap, a Swiss-made quartz movement and water resistance to 30 meters. Those specifications come from that dated third-party review; confirm them with the current official listing or seller before buying, since the accessible official listing information does not establish the specification table.
The reported 31.85 mm measurement includes the crown, so it is not the case-only width. Fit depends on the child’s wrist and on how the strap sits and adjusts. If possible, check the watch on the child rather than relying on age alone. The reported 30-meter water-resistance rating should not be treated as permission for swimming; check Flik Flak’s current guidance for the specific watch and use.

Who it may work for—and what it cannot promise
This is a reasonable candidate if you want an analog watch with explicit hour-and-minute color cues and a space theme that appeals to the child. Flik Flak says its children’s watches use easy-to-read dials and are intended for ages 3–5 and 6–10; that is the brand’s own age guidance, not an independent fit assessment. The child’s wrist size, interest and readiness to practice matter more than the broad age bands.
The brand also offers time-learning resources, including an app it describes as having 36 levels and storybooks. Those are optional brand resources, not evidence that the watch itself improves time-reading ability or that companion materials are needed.

- Confirm the reference is FPNP094; similarly named Flik Flak products may have different specifications.
- Check the current dimensions, strap adjustment, water-resistance guidance and warranty on the regional official listing or with the seller.
- For a marketplace purchase, verify the exact reference, seller, condition and stock. Current local availability and price are not established here.
- Consider whether the child is interested in wearing an analog watch and practicing with it; the dial’s color coding is a teaching aid, not a substitute for practice.
Verdict
The 3-2-1 LIFTOFF! has a credible first-watch idea: distinguish hours and minutes with color, then give a space-loving child a reason to wear it. Its appeal as a “gateway” watch is best understood as a design judgment, backed by one parent’s anecdote—not a demonstrated learning result. Check current model details and fit before purchasing.
