The Joolca HOTTAP Go is a self-contained hot-water system for vehicle-based camping: it combines a 12 L tank, pump and propane burner, so you do not need to assemble those parts separately. Its 9.5 kg empty weight and roughly 19.5 × 14.1 × 7.1 in dimensions make it portable in the sense of moving it to a campsite, not a compelling choice for carrying far on foot. Joolca’s specifications and performance figures are manufacturer claims; no independent hands-on test is established here.
What is the HOTTAP Go?
It is a portable hot-water system with an integrated water reservoir, pump and propane burner. Joolca says the unit recirculates water in the tank to preheat it before showering. That arrangement reduces the need to bring a separate water heater and pump, but the tank still has a finite supply. Joolca’s product FAQ describes the system and its heating approach.

How portable is it?
The current US product page lists an empty weight of 9.5 kg (20.9 lb) and dimensions of 495 × 359 × 180 mm (19.5 × 14.1 × 7.1 in). Those figures describe a unit better suited to a vehicle, van or base camp than a backpack. “Most portable” is not supported by a documented comparison across competing camp showers, so treat portability as a question of how you plan to transport it rather than a category-leading claim. Joolca’s current US listing provides the current figures.
There is a small discrepancy in Joolca’s own published specifications: its older support page lists 23.1 lb and dimensions of 19.5 × 13.8 × 7.1 in, while the live US listing gives 20.9 lb and 19.5 × 14.1 × 7.1 in. The current product listing is the more relevant reference for a purchase, but confirm dimensions if the unit must fit a tight storage space. The support specifications page shows the older values.

How much water and heat does it provide?
Tank capacity and shower estimate
The tank holds 12 L (3.2 gal). Joolca estimates that this is enough for roughly two showers, but that is not a fixed yield: shower duration and flow determine how quickly the reservoir is used. The capacity is a practical limit for long rinses or several people showering back-to-back. See Joolca’s tank-capacity FAQ.
Preheating and temperature
Joolca says preheating takes around five minutes and that the maximum water temperature is 60°C (140°F). The five-minute figure is a manufacturer estimate, not an independently timed result; ambient conditions and starting water temperature may affect the experience. The unit heats the tank before showering rather than providing an unlimited hot-water supply. Joolca’s FAQ explains the preheat cycle.

Flow control and fuel
The current US listing specifies a flow range of 1.5–3.5 L/min (0.4–0.9 gal/min) and an adjustable-flow handle. Joolca estimates about 15 showers from a 1 lb (0.45 kg) propane canister. Both flow and shower yield are manufacturer-published figures, not independent measurements; actual fuel use depends on use conditions. The support specification page instead gives a single 0.92 gal/min figure, another reason to treat the current listing as the buying-page reference. The pump draws 40–50 W according to Joolca Support’s August 20, 2026 specification page.
What comes with it, and what power does it need?
The US listing includes the HOTTAP Go unit, a 50 cm (19.7 in) propane hose, a 3 m (9.8 ft) shower hose with adjustable-flow handle, a magnetic showerhead clip, and a 5 m (16.4 ft) 12V cigarette-socket cable. The burner uses propane, while the pump and controls need 12V power. You can use a vehicle socket or a separately sold compatible power bank; the power bank is not listed as part of the base unit. Joolca also offers bundles that add a power bank and carry bag, with a larger bundle adding a Flexi Sink. Bundle contents and availability can change. How do you set it up and pack it away?
Joolca’s user guide gives this setup sequence:
- Fill the reservoir to the marked line and close the lid.
- Connect the shower hose and propane hose.
- Connect a 12V supply, either the vehicle socket cable or a compatible separately sold power bank.
- Turn on the unit, set the desired temperature and start heating.
- Wait for the unit’s beep, then start water flow using the shower handle.
To pack away, let the unit cool, drain it, dry or air the reservoir, disconnect power and gas, then store it in a cool, dry place. Follow the HOTTAP Go user guide for the complete operating and storage instructions.

Who should consider the HOTTAP Go?
- A good fit: Car campers, van travelers and base-camp users who want a single package with tank, pump and burner, and can carry 12V power and propane.
- A less suitable fit: Backpackers or anyone who must carry shower gear a long distance; the empty unit alone weighs 9.5 kg on the current US listing.
- Consider your water needs: The 12 L reservoir and roughly two-shower manufacturer estimate suit short rinse-offs better than extended showers or a group relying on one fill.
- Plan the site: The product listing describes a shower system, not a complete enclosure. If privacy or weather protection matters, plan for a separate shower shelter.
