What are the HydriumX Will Return Red and Wall Return?
The original HydriumX Will Return was a 100-piece limited edition introduced in 2021, inspired by the signs shop owners put on a door to indicate when they would be back. Fratello’s March 2024 launch feature says Isotope did not plan to produce more of that original design. It also reports that the original received a GPHG nomination in the Challenger category. Fratello’s launch coverage identifies itself as a preferred-position post, a disclosure worth keeping in mind when reading its descriptions and author observations.

The 2024 Will Return Red is a new wristwatch variation, not the original limited model returning unchanged. The Wall Return is a separate wall clock: it adapts the original design’s blue-and-red dial rather than functioning as another wristwatch.
What is different about the Will Return Red?
The Red retains the concept’s vivid color contrast but changes the execution. Its white dial is fully luminous and glows blue with Super-LumiNova; black indices provide markings, while the hands and bezel are red. The strap is light blue. Fratello says the hour and minute hands were changed to more closely resemble the sign that inspired the design; the central seconds hand keeps a white outline for contrast.

What is the Wall Return clock?
The Wall Return takes the original Will Return dial and hands off the wrist and onto a wall. It measures 35 cm across, has an aluminum case, a non-rotating bezel and a fully luminous dial. Unlike the automatic watch, it is battery-powered and uses quartz timekeeping. Fratello’s contributor described the seconds hand as sweeping smoothly and silently; that is an author observation, not a measured sound-level claim.

As a visual counterpart, the clock stays closer to the original blue-and-red design than the red-accented wristwatch variation. Its size and wall-mounted format also make it a decorative timepiece rather than a wearable instrument.

When did preorders open, and what did the launch cost?
Fratello reported that presale opened on March 4, 2024, at 09:00 GMT. Its reported launch prices, including UK taxes, were £1,000 for the Will Return Red and £174 for the Wall Return. The watch preorder period was reported to close at midnight GMT on March 10, 2024. The clock was to be individually numbered during its preorder window and was expected to become a standard website offering later at a higher price.

Choose the Will Return Red if you want a wearable, 40 mm automatic watch and prefer the revised red-heavy color scheme. Choose the Wall Return if you want the original design language on a larger scale as a luminous wall clock. Neither is the original 100-piece HydriumX Will Return: the wristwatch is a new variation, while the clock is a different product category.
