The original family comprises three versions distinguished mainly by dial color and whether they come on calfskin or a steel bracelet. Its defining practical trade-off is familiar: a clean, highly legible pilot-watch layout in a still substantial case. IWC specifies its calibre 82100 with Pellaton winding and a 60-hour power reserve.
IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 IW3293: what the collection includes
IWC introduced the IW3293 family in April 2021 as a 43 mm take on its Big Pilot’s Watch design. The original references are:
| Reference | Dial | Original strap or bracelet |
|---|---|---|
| IW329301 | Black | Brown calfskin strap |
| IW329303 | Blue | Blue calfskin strap |
| IW329304 | Blue | Stainless-steel bracelet |
The most meaningful documented difference among these original versions is the configuration, rather than a different movement or case size. IWC also describes EasX-CHANGE strap changes and calfskin, rubber, and steel options. Check compatibility with the exact reference and confirm current availability before buying a replacement.
Review: design and everyday considerations
A simpler Big Pilot dial
The IW3293 uses a three-hand layout without a date window or power-reserve display. That restraint is central to the watch’s character: the dial prioritizes the time display over additional indications. IWC Creative Director Christian Knoop described the design as a return to the “extreme purity” of an observation watch; that is IWC’s design intent, not an independent assessment.

Size and fit
The cited IW329303 product page lists a 43 mm diameter and 13.6 mm height. Those dimensions make the watch a substantial presence on paper, but case measurements alone cannot establish how it will feel on a particular wrist. No hands-on wear assessment is available here, so try it on if fit is decisive.
Case and water resistance
For the IW329303, IWC specifies a stainless-steel case, screw-in crown, synthetic-sapphire caseback, and convex sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The same product page rates water resistance at 10 bar. That is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee for every activity or for the condition of a pre-owned watch.

Movement and specifications
IWC identifies calibre 82100 as an in-house automatic movement with Pellaton winding. The brand says ceramic components are used in the winding mechanism. Specifications on the cited IW329303 page include:
- Power reserve: 60 hours
- Frequency: 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz)
- Components: 168
- Jewels: 22
- Strap width: 21 mm
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent accuracy or performance test results. A 21 mm width by itself also does not establish that an arbitrary strap will attach correctly; verify the fastening system and reference compatibility.

Video: watchmaker assembles the IW329303
IWC’s verified YouTube channel published “IWC Watchmaker assembles the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 (Ref. IW329303)” on 25 November 2025. The video is an official look at the watchmaker assembly process for the blue-dial reference. It is not a review of long-term ownership, resale value, or current market pricing.
IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 IW3293 price
Price depends on market, reference, and date. IWC’s Australian product page displayed AU$15,300 including VAT for the IW329303 when checked in 2026. This is a regional listing for that reference, not a universal price for every IW3293 configuration; check the official local page for the latest figure.

For historical context only, Monochrome reported launch prices on 7 April 2021 of EUR 8,950 for a leather-strap version and EUR 9,950 for the steel-bracelet version. These are launch-era prices, not current retail or resale valuations, and should not be directly compared with a later Australian price.

IWC’s cited page says buyers may extend the standard two-year International Limited Warranty to eight years total by registering in My IWC care while the initial warranty remains active. Terms can depend on market and purchase status, so confirm eligibility with IWC.
- Match the reference number to the configuration you want; the original IW329301, IW329303, and IW329304 differ in dial and strap or bracelet.
- Check the current local IWC listing or an authorized retailer for availability and price.
- For a pre-owned watch, assess its individual condition rather than treating the model’s published water-resistance rating as a guarantee.
- Confirm strap or bracelet compatibility for the exact watch before ordering an alternative.
Monochrome’s April 2021 introduction called the watch a “less-big Big Pilot,” framing it as a smaller interpretation of the emblematic model. That launch-era perspective provides context, but it is not evidence of current resale value or long-term ownership performance.
