How the UTC display works
The watch separates local time from home time. Turn the crown in its central position to move the local hour hand forward or backward in one-hour increments; the curved UTC display on the dial indicates the second time zone. IWC says the date changes automatically when the dial crosses the International Date Line. The mechanism is part of calibre 82710, which IWC described as its first integration of a UTC function into an IWC-manufactured calibre.
2019 launch price and case-height discrepancy
Monochrome Watches reported a launch price of EUR 9,900 in its 14 January 2019 coverage. The cited sources establish that historical launch figure, not a current retail price or resale value. For case height, IWC’s archived specifications state 14.1 mm, while Monochrome’s contemporary report gives 14.2 mm; the table uses the manufacturer’s figure.
Design and Spitfire context
The bronze case, green dial and brown calfskin strap distinguish the MJ271 within IWC’s 2019 Spitfire line. IWC connected the collection’s instrument-inspired design to the Mark 11 navigation watch, which it says was produced in Schaffhausen for the Royal Air Force from 1948. That is design and collection context: it does not establish that the IW327101 itself was a military-issue watch.
