How the eight-day movement works in this watch
Manual winding and reserve
Calibre 59215 is hand-wound rather than automatic. IWC specifies 192 hours of power reserve, equivalent to eight days when fully wound. The reserve indication is on the reverse of the watch, so it is not shown on the dial.
Dial functions and crystal
The listed dial-side functions include a date and small hacking seconds. The latter stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled for setting. IWC also specifies an arched-edge sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides.

The closest variant to confuse with IW510205 is the gold IW510206. Both are listed with calibre 59215 and a 192-hour reserve, but their exterior details are not interchangeable.

Why the 2018 “150 Years” model is not the same watch
IWC announced a distinct Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “150 Years” in 2018 under reference 5102. Its stainless-steel IW510212 and red-gold IW510211 versions used calibre 59215 and an eight-day reserve, but they are separate references with a different anniversary design. IWC’s 15 January 2018 press release states production of 1,000 steel and 250 red-gold watches for that edition; those quantities do not apply to IW510205.
