IWC announced a re-engineered Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44 range on 9 April 2024 at Watches and Wonders Geneva. The four announced versions pair 18-carat white gold with Horizon Blue or Dune dials, and 18-carat Armor Gold with Obsidian or Silver Moon dials. All use IWC-manufactured calibre 52616, Pellaton winding and a seven-day power reserve, according to the manufacturer.
What changed in the 2024 Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44?
IWC described the relaunch as “completely re-engineered.” Its 9 April 2024 announcement highlights a refined case with a slimmer case ring, double box-glass sapphire crystals and dials finished with 15 layers of transparent lacquer. IWC says all four new models use its manufacture calibre 52616, with Pellaton automatic winding and a seven-day power reserve. The company’s release also describes a perpetual calendar displaying date, day, month, four-digit year and moon phase. Its statement is a published specification, not an independent test result.
