Which B55 are you looking at?
Do not treat every Exospace B55 listing as the same watch. The original black-titanium presentation is visually different from later or currently listed titanium-bracelet references. Rubber and textile versions change the appearance and wrist feel, while DLC-coated variants can affect condition assessment and replacement-part considerations. Before comparing prices, record the reference number, case finish, bracelet or strap, and included accessories.

That does not justify promising a fixed annual accuracy figure. Real-world performance depends on the individual watch, condition, battery state, and service history. Independent watch coverage has described the movement in chronometer or COSC-certified terms, but a pre-owned buyer should verify the documentation and the condition of the specific watch rather than assume that a general description guarantees the performance of an old example.
The B55’s functions are more specialized than the feature list of a basic digital watch:
- Chronograph: measures to 1/100 of a second and can run for up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds.
- Flyback: allows a running chronograph to be reset and restarted quickly, useful when timing successive events.

For an aviation-watch enthusiast, they are the reason the B55 feels like an instrument rather than a novelty digital complication.
How the EXOSPACE app works
The EXOSPACE B55 application is listed under Breitling in both Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Its role is to provide a dashboard for primary watch settings and to transfer watch data to the phone. It is not a general-purpose smartwatch platform.

- Enable Bluetooth on both the B55 and the phone.
- Open the EXOSPACE application and begin the connection process.
- Use the watch to display its six-digit pairing code.
- Confirm the matching code in the application and complete setup.
The official manual says the application can connect to one watch at a time. One B55 can be paired with multiple phones sequentially, but it is not designed to maintain simultaneous active connections to several phones. That limitation matters in a household where more than one person uses the watch or where an owner regularly changes phones.
Once paired, the phone can make settings changes less cumbersome than operating every function through the crown and pushers. Data such as flight, lap, and split times can be transferred for storage or sharing. The manual also documents notification configuration, but that should not be confused with the rich notification handling of a current Apple Watch, Garmin, or Wear OS model.
The major 2026 caveat: the software ecosystem
The B55’s hardware has aged more gracefully than its connected experience. The US App Store history supplied for this review shows a November 28, 2024 release described as bug fixes and performance improvements. Google Play user reviews contain complaints about sparse connectivity, failure to synchronize time, and a perceived lack of recent updates.
Those app-store reviews are anecdotal, not controlled reliability testing. They do not prove that every B55 has connection problems, nor do they establish that the app is unusable. They are nevertheless relevant evidence for a 2026 buyer because the watch’s connected functions depend on a proprietary application that may receive less attention than a mainstream smartwatch platform.

There are two separate ownership questions:
- Will the watch’s core functions remain useful? The analog time display and much of the timing hardware are on the watch itself.
- Will the phone-assisted features remain convenient? That depends on Bluetooth behavior, the application, phone operating-system compatibility, and Breitling’s continued software support.
A B55 can therefore be a sensible purchase even if the app is not future-proof, but only if the buyer is happy to use it primarily as a luxury ana-digi chronograph. It is a poor purchase if reliable phone integration is the central reason for buying it.
Water resistance and maintenance
The 100 m rating is a useful case specification, but it is not a permanent guarantee that every water activity is safe. Breitling explains that pressure ratings are measured under static conditions. Swimming movement, currents, and water jets can create greater effective pressure than the stated depth alone suggests. Gaskets also age and lose effectiveness.
The manual’s 10-bar guidance allows more than simple splash resistance, but it warns against operating the crown or pushers underwater unless the model is specifically designed for that use. Keep the controls closed and have the water resistance checked after relevant service, impact, or gasket work.
Breitling’s current service guidance recommends maintenance approximately every two years, including functional checks, seal replacement, water-resistance testing, cleaning, and battery replacement for quartz watches. A complete service is recommended at roughly four- to six-year intervals. For a connected quartz watch, this is not an insignificant ownership cost: the battery and seals are specialized service items, and a water-resistance failure can turn an otherwise healthy case into an expensive repair.

If the watch will be worn around water, ask for a recent pressure-test record rather than relying on a seller’s statement that it was previously rated to 100 m.

Availability is market-specific and should not be described too confidently. Breitling’s UK site currently lists reference EB5510H11B1E1 at £6,900 including VAT, with a titanium case and bracelet. That confirms that at least one B55 reference remains displayed in a regional Breitling catalogue. It does not confirm US availability, stock at a particular boutique, or continuous production of every B55 reference.
A 2021 enthusiast-forum report said Breitling had told a customer that B55 production had ended. That is not an official discontinuation notice, and it conflicts with the current UK listing. The responsible conclusion is that production and availability are uncertain or market-dependent, not that the entire model is definitively discontinued.
The pre-owned market remains active, with marketplace listings for new, unworn, and used examples. The research snapshot found asking prices broadly spanning the mid-four-figure to high-four-figure US-dollar range, but those are advertised prices rather than verified transaction prices. Condition, reference, bracelet, service history, packaging, charging equipment, seller location, and taxes can make a large difference.

When comparing pre-owned Breitling B55 listings, do not compare the number alone.
