The IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years,” reference IW505001, is a limited-edition platinum wristwatch whose hours and minutes appear as large numerals on rotating discs. Introduced in 2018 for IWC’s 150th anniversary, it was announced in a 25-piece run. The reference is listed in IWC’s past collections; that does not establish whether one is currently available to buy.
What is the IWC Pallweber 150 Years?
IW505001 is the platinum wristwatch in IWC’s 2018 Tribute to Pallweber “150 Years” collection. It revives the digital-style display of the company’s historical Pallweber pocket watches in a wristwatch format. IWC calls it its first wristwatch with jumping numerals. The official product page identifies IW505001 as a past-collection model: IWC product page for IW505001.

How does the jumping-numeral display work?
The hours and minutes are shown by numerals on rotating discs rather than by conventional hands. IWC’s technical release describes a separate wheel train and barrel for moving the display discs. According to IWC, the display train unlocks every 60 seconds and then locks again; after ten minutes, the single-minute disc advances the ten-minute disc, and every sixtieth minute the hour ring advances. IWC says this arrangement leaves the main wheel train’s flow of power uninfluenced by the display train. This is the manufacturer’s explanation of the mechanism, not an independent performance test. Why does the watch pay tribute to Pallweber?
IWC traces production of its Pallweber pocket watches to 1884. Their large digital numerals appeared on rotating discs, a display approach the company brought to a wristwatch for the first time with the 2018 anniversary edition. IWC says production of the historic pocket watch ended in 1890. The wristwatch was part of the company’s 150th-anniversary Jubilee collection. IWC’s historical and anniversary context.
