Choose the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX IW328202 for a slimmer, simpler everyday pilot watch; choose the Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 AB0121211B1P2 if you want a larger chronograph with an aviation slide rule. They are not like-for-like alternatives: the IWC is a three-hand watch with a date, while the Breitling adds a chronograph and a bidirectional circular slide-rule bezel. That difference matters more than the logos when deciding which one suits you.
What is the actual difference between these two pilot watches?
The Mark XX is the straightforward option: it displays the time and date, with a high-contrast, cockpit-instrument-inspired dial. The Navitimer is a more involved instrument-style watch, combining a chronograph with a bidirectional aviation slide-rule bezel. The bezel is the defining feature of the Navitimer, both visually and functionally; it is not a complication the Mark XX tries to match.
These exact references make the comparison concrete, but they represent different kinds of watch. Compare the Mark XX if you want a conventional three-hand pilot watch. Compare the Navitimer if you specifically want a chronograph and value its slide rule.
How do they compare on size and wearing comfort?

On the stated dimensions, the IWC is 3 mm narrower and 3.42 mm thinner. That makes it the more compact of these two examples, though dimensions alone cannot tell you how either case will sit on your wrist. Wrist shape, strap or bracelet, and personal preference all affect the fit; try the exact reference on if possible, especially if you are unsure about a 43 mm watch or a 14.22 mm case.

Which one is better for daily wear?
Choose the IWC Mark XX for a simpler, more compact watch
The Mark XX keeps the display uncluttered with three hands and a date. IWC lists its automatic pilot watches in 36, 40, and 41 mm sizes, and describes the collection as drawing on cockpit instruments and historic navigation watches. The cited 40 mm reference also has IWC’s EasX-CHANGE quick-change strap system and glass secured against air-pressure drops, according to the product listing. Those details make it the more practical pick if you want a clean pilot-watch look, prefer a slimmer case, or want to switch straps easily.

Choose the Navitimer if you want the chronograph and slide rule
The Navitimer’s chronograph and circular slide-rule bezel give it a busier, more instrument-like face and a larger presence on the wrist. The bezel can be used for aviation-style calculations, but its value depends on whether you will actually use or enjoy that function. If what you want is simply a legible time-and-date watch, the extra controls and visual detail may be unnecessary.
How should you interpret water resistance?
The Mark XX is rated to 10 bar, while the cited Navitimer is rated to 3 bar (30 m). These are manufacturer ratings, not a guarantee that a particular watch is suitable for every water activity: the condition of an individual watch and the manufacturer’s instructions matter. If water exposure is a priority, consult the guidance for the exact reference and have the watch’s condition assessed rather than treating the rating as a blanket promise.

Do the movements or power reserves settle the choice?
IWC lists its manufacture automatic calibre 32111 in the Mark XX with a stated 120-hour power reserve. Breitling lists its Breitling 01 manufacture chronograph calibre with an approximately 70-hour reserve. The IWC’s stated reserve is longer, which can be convenient if you rotate watches and leave this one unworn for a few days. The figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent timing or performance tests; choose the Navitimer for its chronograph and slide rule, not on the assumption that a shorter stated reserve makes it less suitable as a watch.

IWC says the Mark 11 was developed for the British Royal Air Force in 1948, a historical link behind the Mark series. The current Mark XX is a modern watch, not the original Mark 11. IWC’s account of the Mark 11 provides the brand’s history.

Breitling describes the Navitimer as a favorite among pilots and aeronautical enthusiasts since 1952. That is Breitling’s description of the model’s standing, rather than an independently measured popularity claim. The history is most relevant if you value the Navitimer’s long-running aviation identity as much as its bezel and chronograph.
What if neither example is quite right?
If you like the IWC’s direct, cockpit-instrument approach but want a different size, IWC’s automatic pilot-watch collection includes 36, 40, and 41 mm options; compare the specifications of each individual reference. If you want a more overtly rugged pilot-watch direction, Breitling positions the Avenger for extreme cockpit conditions and lists 300 m water resistance for the collection. That collection-level figure is not a substitute for checking the rating of a specific Avenger reference.

Then assess how the case dimensions feel on your wrist and verify the exact local price and specification.
