The Jack Mason Pursuit Pro is a $1,399 automatic tool watch built around a luminous countdown bezel, 200-meter water-resistance rating and comfortable-looking nylon hook-and-loop strap. Its dimensions and Swiss-made La Joux-Perret movement make it more substantial than a basic field watch, while its no-bracelet setup and unresolved discrepancy in published magnetic ratings are worth weighing before buying. Jack Mason’s US collection page currently lists the Shadow and Hunter at $1,399 each.
What is new or improved about the Pursuit Pro?
The Pursuit Pro’s “step up” is best understood as a move into a more fully specified, outdoor-oriented tool watch rather than a claim that it has been proven in extreme conditions. Its combination of a ceramic countdown bezel, luminous dial and bezel, screw-down crown, 200-meter water-resistance specification and automatic movement gives it a broader brief than a simple field watch. It can also work as an everyday watch, though the prominent bezel and nylon strap give it a purposeful look.
The model is offered in two variants, Shadow and Hunter. Both share the core case and movement, but differ in dial, lume color, strap color and bezel treatment.
How do the Shadow and Hunter differ?
| Variant | Dial and luminous details | Strap | Bezel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shadow | Matte black dial with white Lumicast indexes | Black nylon hook-and-loop | Black ceramic countdown insert; stainless-steel bezel |
| Hunter | Matte green dial with beige or cream Lumicast details | Sand-colored nylon | Black ceramic countdown insert; black DLC-coated bezel |
The Shadow is the more restrained option; the Hunter’s green, cream and sand palette reads more overtly outdoors-oriented. Both use the same basic layout and 60-minute countdown scale, so the choice is chiefly about color and finish.

How does the Pursuit Pro wear?
Fratello’s 2025 specification listing gives the watch a 40 mm mid-case, 42 mm bezel, 47 mm lug-to-lug span and 12.5 mm thickness. The bezel overhangs the mid-case, making the watch visually broader than the 40 mm figure alone suggests. The 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement is the more useful number for judging whether it may sit comfortably across a smaller wrist, though fit still depends on wrist shape and preference.
Gear Patrol’s reviewer said the prototype wore well on a 6.5-inch wrist, and Fratello described the proportions as comfortable. Those are reviewer impressions, not measurements that guarantee a fit for every wearer. The 20 mm strap width offers a familiar proportion, but the supplied nylon strap is the only configuration discussed in the reviewed coverage.

What are the bezel and lume like?
The ceramic bezel has a 60-minute countdown scale and is described by Fratello as a 120-click bezel. Its luminous markings extend the watch’s night-time visibility beyond the dial. Reviewers singled out the grip and the visibility of the bezel lume; Gear Patrol also praised the two-color lume effect. These observations reflect reviewer use, not a standardized lume or bezel test.
Watch Clicker’s week-long Shadow review found the bezel clicks looser than the reviewer preferred. That makes bezel feel a personal consideration: the scale and grip may be useful, but click firmness is not universally praised.

What movement and specifications does it offer?
Both models use the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement. Fratello’s 2025 specification block lists 24 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 68-hour power reserve. It also reports that Jack Mason regulates the movements in-house to ±5 seconds per day. That is a reported regulation figure, not evidence of long-term accuracy across individual watches.
Fratello lists a flat sapphire crystal with blue anti-reflective coating on both sides, a screw-secured stainless-steel caseback, manual winding and hacking seconds. The brand’s reported 1,200 Vickers hard coating is a stated hardness figure; it should not be read as a standardized scratch-resistance result.

- Mineral crystal; Screw-down crown; Unidirectional stainless steel bezel with blue and red top bezel ring; 200 meter water resistant: Suitable for professional marine activity and surface water sports. Suitable for diving.
The two reviewed sources disagree on the magnetic-field specification: Fratello reports 36,000 A/m, while Watch Clicker gives 4,800 A/m (approximately 60 gauss). Gear Patrol describes an iron cage around the movement for magnetic protection but does not resolve the numeric discrepancy. Until Jack Mason’s current specification confirms the rating, neither number should be treated as definitive.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you swim or dive with it?
Fratello and Watch Clicker both report a 200-meter water-resistance rating, and launch coverage describes a screw-down crown. These are published specifications, not proof that a particular watch has been tested for every diving or water activity. The available reviews do not establish independent testing to the watch’s limits: Gear Patrol handled a prototype and explicitly said its reviewer did not push it that far. For actual diving or water exposure, follow Jack Mason’s current guidance and have the watch’s seals and water resistance checked as appropriate.

What are the tradeoffs at $1,399?
Jack Mason’s US collection page lists both Pursuit Pro variants at $1,399, as checked October 7, 2026. Prices, availability and stock can change, so consult the current Pursuit Pro collection page for the live listing.
- Movement and reserve: The G101 and reported 68-hour reserve give the watch a useful mechanical specification for regular wear.
- Tool-watch legibility: Luminous dial indexes and bezel markings make visibility a central part of the design.
- Strap-only setup: The reviewed configuration comes on nylon hook-and-loop, with no bracelet option discussed. Watch Clicker says Jack Mason confirmed the Pilot and Canton bracelets would not fit; the reviewer also found threading the strap occasionally fiddly.
- Finish and feel: Watch Clicker praised the finishing, crown and strap adjustability, while Fratello liked the proportions and usable bezel. These are individual reviewer impressions.
- Evidence limits: The water-resistance claim is consistently reported, but harsh-condition durability has not been established by the reviewed coverage, and the magnetic rating remains inconsistent across sources.
What did reviewers think?
Gear Patrol’s September 26, 2025 report was based on a prototype. Johnny Brayson praised its legibility, two-color lume, ceramic countdown bezel, strap comfort and wearability, while noting that he did not push it to its limits.
Watch Clicker’s October 2, 2025 review covered a week of wearing the Shadow. Everett liked the finish, lume, crown and adjustability, but found the strap threading occasionally fiddly and the bezel clicks looser than preferred. The bracelet-fit information in that review is attributed to the reviewer’s contact with Jack Mason.
Fratello’s October 13, 2025 article by Jorg Weppelink covers both variants and describes the watch as bridging field-watch and dive-watch roles. Fratello disclosed that the article was a preferred-position post. Weppelink’s view was: “For me, it’s not necessary to label the Jack Mason Pursuit Pro as either a dive watch or a field watch. I will settle for a capable tool watch that functions as both of those perfectly well.”
Who should consider the Pursuit Pro?
The Pursuit Pro makes the most sense for someone who wants an automatic watch with a legible, luminous tool-watch layout and a countdown bezel, and who is comfortable with nylon rather than a bracelet. The Shadow suits a quieter look; the Hunter makes the outdoor styling more explicit. If bracelet wear, a firmly clicking bezel or a confirmed magnetic-field rating is essential, verify those details with Jack Mason before choosing.
