Released in 2024 as an artistic interpretation of the Calibre 184, it is a new presentation of an existing complicated movement—not a newly invented calibre.
What makes the Calibre 184 distinctive?
Its appeal rests on the combination of three demanding complications and the way the watch displays them. Jaeger-LeCoultre fits a minute repeater, perpetual calendar and spherical, bi-axial Gyrotourbillon into its in-house, manual-winding Calibre 184. The dark dial and case finishing make those mechanisms part of an intentionally theatrical composition rather than hiding them behind a conventional display.

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Automatic Silver Dial Men's Watch Q4018420 | Buy on Amazon |
Richemont’s 2025 annual report describes the watch as an artistic interpretation of a celebrated existing calibre. Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced this version in 2024; its official video about the watch was published on September 14 of that year.
How the three complications work
Westminster minute repeater
The repeater sounds the time on demand using a Westminster melody. Jaeger-LeCoultre describes four hammers striking four gongs, rather than the more usual two-hammer, two-gong arrangement, and says seven patents relate to the repeater. The brand also describes crystal gongs and a time-lapse reduction mechanism intended to maintain a smooth cadence. These are the maker’s descriptions, not independently tested assessments of the sound.

Bi-axial Gyrotourbillon
The fifth-generation Gyrotourbillon rotates on two axes in a spherical assembly. Jaeger-LeCoultre says its 94 components weigh 0.4 grams and describes a constant-force mechanism. Richemont calls it the smallest-ever bi-axial Gyrotourbillon; that superlative is the company’s claim, not a comparison independently established by the available reporting.
Perpetual calendar
The calendar accounts for leap years and displays the day, date, month and year, with a central jumping calendar hand. Jaeger-LeCoultre says the calendar requires no manual adjustment until 2100. The manufacturer also states that it can be set forward or backward without damaging the mechanism; that claim applies to this calibre and should not be taken as general advice for setting other watches.
Calibre 184: current listed specifications
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s product page lists the following figures for Calibre 184. The diameter and thickness below are movement dimensions, not the watch’s case measurements.
| Specification | Jaeger-LeCoultre listing |
|---|---|
| Winding | Manual |
| Movement diameter | 33.5 mm |
| Movement thickness | 8.9 mm |
| Frequency | 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) |
| Power reserve | 50 hours |
| Components | 1,052 |
| Jewels | 126 |
The same product page lists hours, minutes, date, month, day, year and leap year, as well as the spherical tourbillon, perpetual calendar, minute repeater and central jumping calendar hand. Jaeger-LeCoultre says one watchmaker assembles the 1,052 components from beginning to end, a process taking more than five months.
Why published movement figures differ
Fratello’s September 21, 2024 launch report gives the movement 52 hours of power reserve and 137 jewels. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s current product page, accessed October 8, 2026, gives 50 hours and 126 jewels. The sources do not explain the mismatch, so the current manufacturer listing is the appropriate reference for present-tense specifications; the earlier figures should not be silently combined with it.

Black Grand Feu enamel plates with fine geometric lines flank the subdial. At the center, smoky black semi-transparent sapphire reveals the calendar discs beneath it, while the gongs receive a black treatment to harmonize with the dial.
The Grande Tradition case is described by Jaeger-LeCoultre as comprising more than 80 components, with polished, brushed and micro-blasted surfaces. Each side carries a geometric plate finished in black lacquer. Inside, the movement combines hand-bevelled bridges, sunrayed Côtes de Genève, heat-blued screws and micro-blasted bridges. The contrast between decorative craft and exposed mechanics is central to the design: the calendar discs remain visible through the dial, while the dark finishing visually unifies the repeater’s gongs and the enamel work.
Case, edition and availability
Fratello’s 2024 launch coverage describes the pink-gold version as 43 mm across and 14.1 mm thick, with five-bar water resistance. Those are case details reported by Fratello, not specifications listed on the Jaeger-LeCoultre product page reviewed here. Fratello also reports sapphire crystals on both sides and a black alligator strap.

The report does not establish present stock or regional allocation. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s product page offers an enquiry, boutique-finding and private-viewing route, but does not publish a price or live inventory. Fratello said the new variant’s price was not announced at launch; its mention of €800,000 referred to the 2019 model and is not a current price for reference Q5252470.
Who this release is for
The Calibre 184 is best understood as a high-complication, métiers d’art statement rather than a straightforward daily-wear proposition. Its strongest case is the unusual convergence of an elaborate chiming mechanism, a leap-year calendar and a rotating two-axis tourbillon, all framed by enamel, sapphire and dark finishing. For a prospective buyer, the practical next step is to contact Jaeger-LeCoultre directly for regional pricing and allocation details; neither current price nor availability is confirmed in the cited launch coverage or product page.
