A separate Chronoscope, reference 027/4902.02, was also reported that year, but accounts disagree about its edition size. The two models should not be confused.
What the 100 Jahre Bauhaus edition commemorates
Junghans introduced the max bill Automatic 100 Jahre Bauhaus in February 2019 to mark the Bauhaus centenary. The brand connects the design to Max Bill’s studies at the Bauhaus and to the school’s Dessau building. Junghans’s February 2019 press release attributes a recollection of Bill’s first impression of the building in 1927 to him: “etwas nie gesehenes: weisse wände und grosse dunkle glasfassaden, dazu im vordergrund das studentenhaus mit den balkontüren als mennigrote akzente.” The release does not provide an archival citation for that wording.

Building-inspired details
Junghans describes the dial and case colors as architectural references: the matt silver dial represents the Dessau building’s white walls, the anthracite case its dark facade, and the grey leather strap concrete. Red hands and a red date disc echo the building’s red door. On the back, a Bauhaus building motif is printed on a partly open display back, with windows that reveal part of the movement.

The related max bill Chronoscope: a distinct model
Specialist coverage identified a Chronoscope version as reference 027/4902.02. It is a chronograph, not another name for the three-hand Automatic. A July 29, 2019 Time and Watches article reports a 40 mm by 14.4 mm anthracite matt PVD-coated steel case, domed sapphire crystal, red hands and date details, grey leather strap, and 3-bar water resistance. It describes a J880.2 automatic movement based on ETA 7750, with a 48-hour reserve, and reports a 1,000-piece limit and €1,995 launch price.
The Chronoscope’s reported production limit is unresolved: the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry Foundation’s Baselworld coverage says 99 pieces and describes the movement as a Valjoux 7750. That conflicts with Time and Watches on the count, and differs in movement description. Without an authoritative, model-specific Junghans source establishing those points, neither edition count should be presented as settled. The reported €1,995 is the specialist article’s 2019 launch-price figure, not current pricing.

What is established about the Max Bill Edition Set 2019
The Junghans 2019 catalog contents include sections titled “Edition models 100 years Bauhaus” and “max bill Edition Set 2019.” A Hammans retailer listing also uses the Edition Set 2019 and 100 Jahre Bauhaus names, but its text does not specify the bundle’s contents. These references establish that the set was presented or listed, not what it included.
