Contemporary launch reports describe a Dutch-assembled watch combining a German-made case with a Swiss Sellita movement. Its reported launch price was €1,500; that is a historical figure, not a current price or valuation.
What was the original Kuyl watch?
Kuyl Watches launched as a new Dutch brand rather than as a broad collection. Horloge.info’s June 25, 2012 report describes one model offered in multiple variants. Fratello’s June 15 account records the introduction to watch journalists, enthusiasts, bloggers, and friends at an opening reception in The Hague. Jan Jaap Kuyl, identified as the owner, presented the first collection at the Watch-Site boutique, which Fratello described as an official dealer at the time.
The design was presented as modern with a classic influence. Fratello says Kuyl designed the case and that it was manufactured in Germany. The case back displayed the Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement, Dutch engravings, and the motto “Je Maintiendrai.” The launch reports do not include a substantive verbatim statement from Kuyl or another named speaker.

The figures below are specifications and options reported in 2012, not independent test results or confirmation of the condition of any surviving watch.

Horloge.info reported that customers could configure and order the watch online, with delivery in about two weeks or pickup at a sales point. Those ordering and delivery details, like the price, describe the launch period only.
How the Dutch, German, and Swiss elements fit together
The launch coverage describes a watch with components and work sourced across three countries: a German-manufactured case, a Swiss movement and other Swiss and German components, and assembly by a Dutch watchmaker. That combination explains the “Dutch watch brand” description without implying that every component was made in the Netherlands.

Fratello characterized the SW200 as basically the same as ETA’s 2824-2. That is a broad comparison, not proof that the movements—or every component within them—are interchangeable. The 2012 reports identify the earlier SW200 and give its stated power reserve as 38 hours. Sellita now describes the SW200-2 Power+ as a re-engineered evolution of SW200-1 with a 65-hour reserve; that later specification does not establish which movement, if any, is in a particular Kuyl watch. What the launch price and specifications do—and do not—tell you
The €1,500 figure is a reported 2012 launch price, not a current retail price, resale estimate, or evidence of present-day supply. Likewise, 5 ATM / 50 metres is the published water-resistance rating, not an independent test of a surviving example. The launch reports do not provide lug width, so they cannot establish which replacement straps will fit. Nor do they provide wrist-testing evidence from which to infer how the 44 mm case wears on a particular wrist.

Is Kuyl Watches still producing or selling watches?
Current production, ordering, authorized dealers, warranty terms, repair support, and second-hand availability have not been verified. The original reports establish that the brand and watch existed and document the launch, but they do not establish present-day activity. The fact that kuylwatches.com did not return readable content is not proof that the business has closed or that no watch can be found. Treat any current offer as a seller-specific listing to verify, rather than assuming it is an active brand sale or an authorized channel.
