That regulator layout, rather than a conventional central-hour dial, is the defining feature of this discontinued 41 mm red-gold watch.
What makes the dial a regulator?
On a conventional watch, the hour and minute hands share the central axis. Here, the central hand shows minutes; a separate subdial at 12 displays hours, while small seconds occupy the subdial at 6. Laurent Ferrier explains that separating hours and minutes is intended to increase legibility and precision. The brand says regulator watches were traditionally used by watchmakers to set watches and by scientists taking measurements.
The black opaline dial has grey-painted Roman numerals. Its hour hand is leaf-shaped, the minute hand assegai-shaped, and the seconds hand baton-shaped; all are 18K red gold 5N.
Reference, introduction and availability
Laurent Ferrier’s archived product page names the watch “Square Regulator – Black Dial” and gives reference LCF033.R5.NG1. The brand’s July 18, 2018 launch article calls it “Square Régulateur” and “Galet Square Régulateur Black”; Laurent Ferrier described the launch as a 5N red-gold square case with an opaline black nickel dial. Monochrome Watches’ 2018 launch coverage reports a different reference, CAD.019.N01. These are the references used by their respective sources and should not be assumed to be interchangeable. Laurent Ferrier’s archived product page states that the edition is complete and no longer available from the Manufacture, though pieces may occasionally surface through collectors and authorised partners. That does not confirm any current listing or stock.

Movement and wearing considerations
The automatic FBN 228.01 uses a pawl-fitted micro-rotor, with the brand specifying silent-block protection for the rotor against shocks. Its silicon escapement delivers double direct impulse on the balance. The stated 72-hour reserve and 3 Hz frequency are manufacturer specifications.
The case measures 41 mm across and 10.95 mm thick. Water resistance is rated at 30 m / 3 ATM; this is a specification, not a claim that the watch is suitable for swimming or diving. Laurent Ferrier lists a brown leather strap with Alcantara lining and either a 5N red-gold pin buckle or folding clasp. The archived specifications do not state lug width or replacement-strap compatibility.
