The Le Jour Rally Monte-Carlo LJ-RMC-005 pairs a light-blue dial and angular steel case with a Sellita SW500 automatic chronograph. Its listed specifications are substantial, but the 14.5 mm case height and one reviewer’s complaints about wrist comfort and bracelet adjustment make fit worth checking before you buy.
What is the Le Jour Rally Monte-Carlo LJ-RMC-005?
The LJ-RMC-005 is the light-blue-dial version of Le Jour’s Rally Monte-Carlo chronograph. The manufacturer lists a 316L stainless steel case and bracelet, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, Swiss Super-LumiNova lume and a Sellita SW500 automatic chronograph movement. Le Jour specifies 25 jewels and a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Le Jour’s product page is the source for those model details.
SeriousWatches additionally lists day and date, a maximum power reserve of 56 hours, C3 Super-LumiNova, a screw-down crown and a display caseback. These are retailer-listed details, rather than items included in Le Jour’s specification list. SeriousWatches’ listing identifies the caliber as SW500 as well.
How does it wear?
Dimensions and wrist fit
Le Jour lists a 40 mm case size, 14.50 mm height, 48 mm case length and 22 mm lug width. Matthew Inglis’s independent review gives the same core dimensions and describes the angular case as visually striking. He also notes that the caseback shape can make the watch’s thickness seem less prominent on the wrist. That is his impression, not a guarantee of fit for every wrist.
#1 Best Overall
- Stainless steel case 48mm diameter x 13.5mm thick; White dial
- Japanese quartz movement, VD54 Caliber; Assembled in Japan; SR920SW battery included; Watch weight: 100 grams
- Light Brown leather band, 210mm L x 22mm W; Buckle clasp
- Mineral crystal; Push/pull crown; Stationary stainless steel bezel; Functional Subdials: 60min, 60sec, 24hr; 100 meter water resistant: Suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports. Not suitable for diving.
The 14.5 mm height is worth considering if you prefer a slim watch or often wear fitted cuffs. Where possible, try it on and assess how the case sits as you move your wrist; diameter alone will not tell you whether the angular edges or overall height suit you.
Bracelet: a notable caveat
Inglis reports that sharp sections of the case dug into his wrist during movement and that the watch felt potentially top-heavy to him. He also found the bracelet rattly, prone to squeaking unless fitted tightly, pinchy, and difficult to fine-tune because it lacked micro-adjustment. He described the unscrewed crown stem as wobbly. These are one reviewer’s personal observations, not established defect rates or proof that every example behaves the same way.

His summary of the bracelet was: “The bracelet looks great however it doesn’t feel as luxurious as it looks.” That is Inglis’s opinion, not a statement from Le Jour.
Can you put a strap on the LJ-RMC-005?
The listed lug width is 22 mm, and Inglis suggests that a straight-edge strap can suit the watch’s design. A strap swap may be worth considering if the bracelet is not comfortable for you. Neither source confirms that a particular third-party strap will fit, so check its width and end shape against the watch before ordering.

Water resistance and everyday use
Le Jour lists water resistance up to 10 bar/100 m. That is a manufacturer specification, not a blanket assurance for every water activity, the watch’s condition, or use after servicing. SeriousWatches also lists 100 m water resistance and a screw-down crown. If water use matters to you, confirm the watch’s current condition and follow Le Jour’s guidance for the specific activity.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Le Jour LJ-RMC-005 worth considering?
It is a strong candidate for someone drawn to a distinctive blue-dial automatic chronograph and the SW500 movement, with sapphire crystal and a listed 100 m water resistance. The main decision is whether the angular, relatively tall case and bracelet work for your wrist. The independent review raises specific comfort and adjustment concerns, so try the watch on if you can; if you prefer a strap, treat 22 mm as the starting specification and verify the individual strap’s fit.
