What is the difference between the Leica L1 and L2?
The L1 and L2 share a manually wound movement, 41 mm stainless-steel case, 60-hour minimum power reserve and the same basic time, date and power-reserve displays. The L2’s principal addition is a GMT 12-hour bezel for a second time zone, paired with a day/night indicator. These specifications come from Leica’s February 2022 technical sheet (Leica’s announcement; technical specifications).

Which model makes more sense?
The practical choice is whether the L2’s second-time-zone display and day/night indicator matter to you. Leica’s 2022 launch prices put the L2 €4,000 above the L1, but that is a historical launch-price difference, not a verified current price gap. If you do not need the GMT function, the L1 shares the L2’s stated movement, dimensions, materials and water-resistance rating.

How does the Leica push crown work?
Leica describes the patented push crown as an interaction inspired by a camera shutter release. Pressing the crown stops the movement and resets the small seconds hand to zero; pressing it again releases the movement. Leica also describes a corresponding status indicator on the dial. This is the manufacturer’s account of the mechanism, not an independent operating test.

Leica Store Singapore now identifies the ZM 1 and ZM 2 as the watches formerly referred to as L1 and L2. This naming context does not confirm local inventory or pricing elsewhere (Leica Store Singapore watches).
Design and manufacturing claims
Leica credits Professor Achim Heine with the watches’ exterior concept. The company says the movement and most components were developed and produced with Lehmann Präzision GmbH in Germany’s Black Forest region, and presents the watches as Made in Germany. These are Leica’s descriptions of the design and production, rather than independent manufacturing findings.
