A May 9, 2022, watch-spotting article identified the watch Jürgen Klopp wore at Liverpool’s 1–0 win over Newcastle United as the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince.” It also described the IWC Aquatimer he had mainly worn during his Liverpool tenure. These are historical identifications reported at the time, not confirmation of Klopp’s current watch collection or either model’s availability.

Which new watch did Klopp wear?

Time+Tide Watches reported that Klopp wore the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince” for Liverpool’s match against Newcastle United, which Liverpool won 1–0. The report, published May 9, 2022, described the watch as having a 46.2 mm stainless-steel case. Read the original 2022 watch-spotting article.

The model’s name points to its monopusher chronograph: as Time+Tide explained it, one pusher integrated into the crown handles winding and setting the time as well as the chronograph functions. The article also connected the Big Pilot’s oversized crown with practical use by gloved hands. Those are design details as presented by that article, rather than independently verified manufacturer specifications here.

What watch had he worn before?

The same article said Klopp had mainly worn the IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Edition ‘50 Years Aquatimer’ during his Liverpool tenure. It described a 49 mm case and a digital perpetual-calendar display showing the date, month and leap-year indication. Time+Tide reported that the edition was limited to 50 examples.

The Aquatimer and Big Pilot are distinct watches, and the report gives only a few points for comparing them. The Aquatimer is identified by its perpetual-calendar display and limited-edition count; the newly spotted Big Pilot is identified by its monopusher chronograph and stainless-steel case. No comparable information about weight, thickness, water resistance, price or present-day availability is established by the article.

What the 2022 context does—and does not—tell us

Time+Tide noted that Klopp had signed a Liverpool contract extension through 2026 and was not an official IWC ambassador when it published the story. Those statements describe the context in May 2022; they should not be read as updates on his current career or brand relationships. The article reported the watch sighting, but it did not provide a direct statement from Klopp or establish that he purchased the watch himself.

The case dimensions, edition count and match result above are figures reported by Time+Tide in 2022. They have not been independently confirmed here. The story supports identifying what that publication said Klopp wore, but not claims about his current ownership, an IWC endorsement, or whether the models can still be bought.
