The Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph Tuxedo, reference L2.830.4.93.0, is the 40 mm automatic chronograph with an opaline ivory “Tuxedo” dial—not the smaller three-hand Tuxedo. Longines listed it for $3,900 in the United States on October 8, 2026. Its appeal is a mid-century-inspired look paired with a modern automatic chronograph; the main practical limits to note are its 3 bar published water-resistance rating and the lack of evidence here for hands-on comfort or performance.
Which Longines Tuxedo Chronograph is this?
This article covers the Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph Tuxedo, reference L2.830.4.93.0. Longines labels it “LONGINES TUXEDO” on its US product page. It is distinct from the three-hand Heritage Classic Tuxedo, reference L2.330.4.93.0, which has a different movement and a smaller case. The two watches were also treated as separate models in Hodinkee’s June 2020 launch coverage.
What is the current price?
On October 8, 2026, Longines’ US product page listed the chronograph at $3,900. This is an observed US list price, not a guaranteed transaction price or a global price; price and availability can change. The page also presents a five-year Longines warranty and US-specific shipping and returns terms. Check the current product page for the terms applicable to your purchase.
For context, Hodinkee reported a $3,000 launch price in June 2020. That historical figure is not the current US price.

Design and historical inspiration
Longines says the Heritage Classic collection draws on iconic watches from the 1930s and 1940s. In its June 2020 launch article, Hodinkee’s Jon Bues wrote, “They’re designed after a pair of watches produced by Longines in the middle part of the 1940s.” The article identifies a 1943 chronograph associated with the historic 13ZN among the inspirations.

- Automatic L888 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date. Transparent case back with sapphire crystal
- Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
- 5 Year International Warranty
The historical connection is about design, not a claim that the modern watch uses the same movement. The L2.830.4.93.0 has the automatic L895 chronograph; the historic 13ZN was hand-wound. Hodinkee identifies the L895 as ETA A31.L21 and reports 37 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 54-hour reserve. Longines’ current page confirms the principal frequency and reserve figures but does not expose all those movement details in its accessible text.
How it differs from the three-hand Tuxedo
The related three-hand model is a separate watch, not another name for this chronograph. The dimensions, movement, and reserve figures below are from Hodinkee’s June 2020 launch coverage. Its prices are launch prices from that date, not current quotes.

| Model | Complication and caliber | Case diameter | Power reserve | Water resistance | June 2020 launch price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heritage Classic Chronograph Tuxedo, L2.830.4.93.0 | Automatic chronograph; L895 | 40 mm | 54 hours | 30 m, as reported by Hodinkee | $3,000 |
| Heritage Classic Tuxedo, L2.330.4.93.0 | Three-hand; L893 | 38.5 mm | 64 hours | 30 m, as reported by Hodinkee | $2,000 |
Choose between them by complication and size: the chronograph is 1.5 mm larger in diameter and adds stopwatch functionality, while the three-hand model has the longer stated reserve in the launch-era comparison. The current US price stated above applies only to the chronograph; the historical three-hand price is not a current offer.
Practical considerations before buying
- Fit: The published case diameter is 40 mm. Case diameter alone does not establish how the watch will sit on an individual wrist, and the sources cited do not provide a hands-on comfort assessment.
- Water: Longines specifies 3 bar. Do not infer swimming or diving suitability from that rating alone.
- Strap: The watch is supplied with a leather strap and buckle. The cited sources do not establish an exact strap width or recommend a compatible replacement, so verify dimensions with Longines or an authorized retailer before ordering another strap.
- Price: Treat $3,900 as the Longines US listing observed on October 8, 2026. Confirm the live price, availability, warranty presentation, and purchase terms before buying.
Verdict
The L2.830.4.93.0 is the Tuxedo to consider if you want the opaline ivory, mid-century-inspired design with an automatic chronograph rather than a three-hand display. Its published specification set includes a 40 mm steel case, 54-hour reserve, tachymeter, and 3 bar rating. The key decision is whether that chronograph and styling justify the current observed US list price of $3,900 for you, given the stated water-resistance limit and without assuming an unverified comfort or performance result.
