How the dial works
Retrograde date
A hand indicates the date along a curved scale in the upper portion of the dial. At the end of its travel, it returns to the beginning of the arc for the next cycle. That sweeping return is the visual signature of the retrograde display; it is not a conventional date window.

Precision moon phase
The moon-phase display is a separate complication. Vacheron Constantin says it needs correction once every 122 years. That is the manufacturer’s stated correction interval for the moon-phase indication—not a promise that the watch can go 122 years without ordinary time setting, servicing, or accuracy checks. Movement and specifications
The anniversary model uses the self-winding calibre 2460 R31L/270. Vacheron Constantin lists a 40-hour power reserve, 4 Hz frequency, 275 components, and 27 jewels. A 40-hour reserve is relatively short by the standards of some modern watches: leaving it unworn for longer than that means it will need winding and setting again. The transparent sapphire caseback exposes the movement, which the maker describes as finished with “côte unique” and a discreet anniversary signature. The watch is listed with the Hallmark of Geneva certification; that designation should be read as the certification specified for this watch, not as evidence of an unstated accuracy or service-interval claim. Design and wearability
Patrimony is the brand’s deliberately minimalist collection, drawing on Vacheron Constantin models from the 1950s. The anniversary dial complicates that restraint with a Maltese-cross-inspired pattern and a convex outer zone. Applied gold markers and hands follow the dial’s curve. At 42.5 mm across, the case is large for a watch whose design language is traditionally formal, even though its 9.7 mm thickness remains relatively slim in profile. Is the Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date worth it?
The H057 is most compelling for someone who values a distinctive, mechanically expressive dial in a high-end dress watch and specifically wants the anniversary edition. Its appeal rests on the interplay of the retrograde date and moon phase, the sculpted silver-toned dial, and the white-gold case—not on broad utility. The trade-offs are equally clear: 42.5 mm may wear large for a dress watch, water resistance is limited to 3 bar, and the 40-hour reserve calls for regular winding if it is not worn daily.
