There is no single winner across either collection. For a specific comparison, consider the 43 mm Longines HydroConquest automatic, reference L3.782.4.56.6, against the 41.5 mm Oris Aquis Date Calibre 733, reference 01 733 7766 4157-07 4 22 64FC. The Longines offers a 72-hour power reserve and regular lugs; the cited Oris has a 41-hour reserve and a more distinctive integrated-bracelet design. Choosing the Aquis Calibre 400 changes the movement, warranty proposition and price substantially.
Generation matters: Longines announced a redesigned HydroConquest in March 2026, with 39 mm and 42 mm sizes. The 43 mm reference compared here is the model on the current US product page, not one of those newly announced sizes.
Which exact watches are being compared?
“HydroConquest” and “Aquis” are product lines, not single watches. Their specifications vary by reference, size, movement and bracelet or strap. The figures below apply only to the identified configurations.
| Watch | Reference and configuration | Published reserve | Published water resistance | Listed price and market |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Longines HydroConquest | L3.782.4.56.6; automatic, 43 mm, stainless steel, ceramic bezel, steel bracelet | Up to 72 hours | 30 bar / 300 m | $2,000 on Longines US in 2026; regional price, subject to change |
| Oris Aquis Date Calibre 733 | 01 733 7766 4157-07 4 22 64FC; automatic, 41.5 mm | 41 hours | 30 bar / 300 m | Not stated on the cited Oris regional page |
| Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 | 01 400 7769 4135-07 8 22 09PEB; automatic, 41.5 mm | 120 hours | 30 bar / 300 m | €3,500 on Oris Spain in 2026; regional price for this reference |
Manufacturer specifications and displayed prices are not independent performance-test results. The Longines US listing and Oris Spain price are from different markets and currencies, and the Calibre 400 is a different movement tier from the cited Calibre 733; those figures do not establish a like-for-like price winner. Check the current local listing for the exact reference before buying. Longines’ US page for L3.782.4.56.6, Oris’ Calibre 733 page and Oris Spain’s Calibre 400 listing identify the respective configurations.

How does the 2026 HydroConquest update affect the comparison?
Longines announced a redesigned HydroConquest collection on March 26, 2026. The launch covers 39 mm and 42 mm sizes, four dial variations, five ceramic bezel colours and a Milanese mesh bracelet version. It is therefore important not to treat older 41 mm or 43 mm HydroConquest comparisons as descriptions of the new range.
The reference L3.782.4.56.6 remains the specific 43 mm watch used here. The launch announcement does not make its specifications interchangeable with every redesigned model. Consult the exact reference page when comparing a new 39 mm or 42 mm release. Longines’ March 26, 2026 HydroConquest announcement.

- DIVER-INSPIRED DESIGN — Inspired by the sea, the MDV-106G is styled after classic dive watches and delivers 200-meter water resistance at an unbeatable price point. - STAINLESS STEEL CASE WITH SCREW-LOCK CROWN & CASEBACK — The MDV-106G features a stainless steel case and a reliable screw-lock crown for enhanced water resistance protection. - LARGE FLUORESCENT HANDS & INDICES FOR INSTANT READABILITY — The dial features hands and hour indices with large fluorescent areas for easy reading in low-light and underwater conditions. The clean 3-hand analog layout with date display at 3 o'clock keeps the dial uncluttered and immediately legible at a glance.
- 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE | 22MM LUG WIDTH | MINERAL GLASS — The case measures 44mm in diameter, 12mm in height, with a 49mm lug-to-lug length and a standard 22mm lug width — making strap upgrades effortless with a vast range of aftermarket options. - 3-YEAR BATTERY & 200M WATER RESISTANCE — Powered by an SR626SW battery with an approximate 3-year life, the case measures 49.5 × 46.3 × 12.1mm and weighs 92 grams. At 200 meters of water resistance, the Duro is versatile and suitable for all situations — whether in the water, hiking, running, or at the office.
Which movement and reserve make more sense?
HydroConquest L3.782.4.56.6: 72 hours
Longines lists an up-to-72-hour reserve for this automatic HydroConquest. That means it can sit unworn through a weekend and still be running, assuming it was sufficiently wound beforehand. This is a manufacturer specification, not a comparative timing test.
Aquis Date Calibre 733: 41 hours
The cited Calibre 733 Aquis has a 41-hour reserve. It is the more straightforward comparison with a standard Aquis configuration, but its reserve is shorter than that of the cited Longines.

Aquis Date Calibre 400: 120 hours
The Calibre 400 Aquis has a 120-hour reserve—five days by the stated figure—and is a materially different choice from the Calibre 733 version. Oris Spain lists the cited Calibre 400 reference at €3,500, so it should not be treated as representative of every Aquis or as an automatic match for a sub-€2,500 comparison.
All three reserves come from the manufacturers’ product pages for the references named above: Longines, Oris Calibre 733 and Oris Calibre 400.

Are they equally capable as dive watches?
Each cited reference carries a manufacturer-published 30 bar / 300 m water-resistance rating. That is a shared specification, not evidence of independent water testing, and it should not be read as a blanket guarantee for every activity or for every watch in either collection. Follow the manufacturer’s use and maintenance guidance, and confirm the rating for the exact reference you are considering.

Case size is only a starting point
The listed HydroConquest is 43 mm; the two cited Aquis references are 41.5 mm. Diameter alone cannot tell you how either watch will sit on your wrist. The cited official information does not provide a directly comparable set of lug-to-lug measurements, so try them on in person when practical rather than inferring fit from diameter.

Bracelet design and strap flexibility
The HydroConquest reference has regular lugs, and Longines lists rubber-strap versions alongside steel-bracelet versions for the current model. The Aquis is described in recent comparison coverage as having an integrated bracelet, a design that can limit generic strap interchange. Oris lists model-specific alternate straps, but compatibility should be verified for the exact reference. The Calibre 733 model’s 22 mm interhorn width does not by itself establish that a generic 22 mm strap will fit or suit every Aquis.
What do the warranties and service terms offer?
- HydroConquest L3.782.4.56.6: Longines advertises a five-year warranty on the cited product page. Check the applicable regional terms.
- Aquis Date Calibre 733: The cited Oris regional page lists a two-year base warranty, with a free MyOris registration extension to three years.
- Aquis Date Calibre 400: Oris says MyOris registration extends the warranty to ten years and gives ten-year service intervals for the cited model. Registration conditions and regional terms apply.
These terms are attached to the cited models and manufacturer pages, not guaranteed line-wide summaries. Read the applicable warranty conditions before purchase: Longines, Oris Calibre 733 and Oris Calibre 400.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the HydroConquest if…
- You prefer a more conventional diver silhouette and the regular-lug format.
- The cited 43 mm model’s 72-hour reserve suits your routine.
- You want the option of a manufacturer-listed rubber-strap variant as well as a steel bracelet.
Choose the Aquis Date Calibre 733 if…
- You prefer the Aquis’s more distinctive case and integrated-bracelet design.
- You are comparing the standard Calibre 733 configuration rather than the higher-priced Calibre 400.
- You value having Oris-listed, model-specific alternate strap options, after confirming compatibility.
Choose the Aquis Date Calibre 400 if…
- A 120-hour reserve is a priority.
- The cited warranty extension and service-interval proposition matter to you and you meet the MyOris terms.
- You are comparing its regional price and higher movement tier with the right alternatives, rather than assuming it sits in the same price bracket as a standard Aquis.
Recent editorial coverage has characterized the HydroConquest as visually more familiar and the Aquis as more original; that is a design judgment, not a measurable specification. The Fratello comparison published April 5, 2026 framed its question as “Which sub-€2,500 diver is better?” That threshold describes the framing of that article, not every Aquis configuration: its Calibre 400 is listed at €3,500 by Oris Spain.
