The 2023 Longines Pilot Majetek is a 43 mm steel pilot watch whose defining feature is a bidirectional fluted bezel that moves a luminous starting-time marker inside the crystal. Longines ties the “1935” name to the date it registered the original Pilot Majetek model; the modern watch is an updated interpretation, not an exact replica. This guide explains the bezel, the key specifications and the differences from the 2014 Heritage 1935.
What does “1935” mean on the Longines Pilot Majetek?
Longines says it registered the Pilot Majetek model with the International Bureau of Industrial Property in Bern, Switzerland, on 1 April 1935. The company describes the original as designed for aviators. The date in the modern watch’s name points to that history; it does not mean the current model reproduces the 1935 watch dimension for dimension.

The historical connection is also reflected in the caseback inscription. Fratello translates “Majetek Vojenské Správy” as “Property of the Military Administration.”
How does the Pilot Majetek bezel work?
Turn the fluted bezel to position its internal luminous triangle at the minute you want to mark. As the minute hand advances, read elapsed time from that starting point. Longines describes the indicator’s historical purpose as displaying a mission’s departure time and measuring flight time between changes of course.

On the modern design, the marker moves with the bezel independently of the fixed sapphire crystal, as Monochrome explains. It is a simple elapsed-time aid, not evidence that the watch is a certified instrument for present-day flight operations.
Modern Pilot Majetek specifications
The figures below are for the stainless-steel reference L2.838.4.53.2 listed on Longines’ Canadian product page. Fratello reported the modern steel case as 43 mm across and 13.3 mm thick at launch.

Longines’ collection page confirms a silicon balance spring and chronometer certification. Launch coverage by Fratello and Monochrome identifies the movement as calibre L893.6; Fratello reports 26 jewels. The modern dial has raised Arabic numerals and luminous hands. Fratello notes that the hands differ from the cathedral-style hands associated with the original. Its account also describes updated proportions and lug shapes, plus crown guards.
How it differs from the 2014 Heritage 1935
The Heritage 1935 was another modern Longines watch inspired by a timepiece originally created for aviators. In its 2014 press release, Longines highlighted its cushion-shaped steel case, fluted crown, matte black dial, large white Arabic numerals and Super-LumiNova. The later Pilot Majetek revisits the name and design language but changes important functional and physical details.

References and price context
Fratello’s launch coverage lists three strap configurations: L2.838.4.53.0 with brown leather, L2.838.4.53.2 with dark green leather, and L2.838.4.53.8 with a khaki-green NATO strap made from recycled material. It reported Swiss launch pricing of CHF 3,500, with the leather versions and an additional NATO strap at CHF 3,600. Those are launch-era Swiss prices, not current quotes.
Longines’ US collection page displayed $4,250 for steel Pilot Majetek models and $5,650 for the titanium Pioneer Edition when accessed on October 8, 2026. The Canadian product page for steel reference L2.838.4.53.2 displayed C$5,550 on that date. These are snapshots from different markets and are not directly comparable prices; taxes, variant and availability can affect what a buyer sees. Check the local Longines site or an authorized retailer for current pricing and stock.

Who is it for?
The Majetek’s appeal is clearest if you want a watch with a distinctive cushion case, legible black pilot-style dial and a bezel that can mark elapsed minutes without relying on a date display. The same design choices narrow its fit: at 43 mm, it is a substantial watch, and its vintage cues come with modern proportions rather than period dimensions. Anyone choosing among versions should compare case material, strap, reference number and local price, rather than assuming every listing describes the same configuration.
