Two versions are documented: a Grade 5 titanium reference, LM-110.20.50, limited to 60 pieces, and an 18K red-gold reference, LM-110.50.55, limited to 28 pieces. The two differ in metal, edition size and documented specifications, so identify the version in any photo before quoting a figure.
Identify which Black Moon you are looking at
Both versions share the meteorite moon display and the aventurine dial concept, but the case metal and edition size separate them. The table below lists what the sources establish for each reference.

Specifications, price and water resistance in this article apply to the titanium reference. The sources reviewed do not provide a consolidated specification sheet for the red-gold reference, so its dimensions, water resistance and price are not stated here.
- Read the reference number in the photo caption or the dial-side engraving first; LM-110.20.50 and LM-110.50.55 are the two references to match.
- If no caption is available, the case metal is the next check: a grey titanium case and a gold 18K case are distinct, and a gold-cased photo cannot be a titanium specimen.
- Do not transfer the titanium figures to a red-gold photo, even when the dial and display look identical.
How the moon display works
The phase indicator sits on a domed central disc carrying two lunar meteorites. One fragment represents the full moon and the other the new moon. The current position is read against a red-framed index at 3 o’clock. The brand’s description says the full moon is announced when the designated fragment aligns with that index.

The full-moon fragment: Gadamis 005
Louis Moinet identifies the light-coloured meteorite as Gadamis 005, the piece that marks the full moon. Its brightness is the visual cue that distinguishes it from the dark fragment on the same disc.
The new-moon fragment: Dhofar 457
The dark fragment is Dhofar 457, which stands for the new moon. The brand’s collection page identifies both fragments by name, and the GPHG listing describes the display in the same terms.
What the sources do not describe
The published descriptions explain the full-moon alignment and the two markers. They do not spell out how the display reads in every intermediate phase, so a reader who needs that detail should check the instructions that come with a watch or contact the brand directly.

The aventurine dial
The brand describes a three-dimensional dial structure set above an aventurine base, which gives the surface its star-field effect. The independent Fratello Watches coverage of the Black Moon also describes the aventurine backdrop, so the dial description is supported by both a brand and an independent source.

Published case and movement particulars
The GPHG listing for LM-110.20.50 gives the following particulars:
- Case: 40.7 mm diameter, 18.74 mm thick, Grade 5 titanium
- Water resistance: 50 m
- Strap: leather with a folding buckle
- Movement: self-winding mechanical calibre, 28,800 vibrations per hour
- Power reserve: 48 hours
Movement and the precision claim
The GPHG listing says the exclusive self-winding calibre was designed by Louis Moinet and developed in collaboration with Concepto. It describes a gear train that includes a 135-tooth wheel.

The precision figure comes from the manufacturer. The GPHG model listing reproduces the brand’s sentence: “Unlike conventional moon phase displays, the BLACK MOON’s is especially precise, with a deviation of just one day in 122 years.” This is a published specification. The sources reviewed for this article did not include an independent test of a watch, so the figure should be attributed to Louis Moinet rather than presented as measured.
Price and availability
The GPHG listing shows CHF 26,000 including VAT for the titanium reference, with a July 2024 launch. That is a listing price from 2024, not a current offer. The sources reviewed did not establish current authorised-retailer stock or present-day transaction prices for either version, so check the brand directly before treating the figure as a buying price. The red-gold reference’s price is not stated in the sources reviewed.

What “live pics” can and cannot promise
The official collection and GPHG pages present the Black Moon through brand and competition imagery. Those images show the watch clearly, but they are not evidence that a photograph was taken of a specific watch on a specific date. The sources reviewed did not verify a current set of wrist or event photographs with a photographer credit or date.

If you publish or cite a photo of the Black Moon, record three things: the reference number from the caption, the photographer or source credit, and the date the image was made. Without those, a picture can show the design but cannot confirm which edition or what condition the watch is in.
For the design itself, the best starting points are the Louis Moinet meteorite watches collection for the brand’s own description and the GPHG Black Moon listing for the published specifications.
