Designed and developed with Kari Voutilainen, it brings together his workshop and La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in a tantalum-and-platinum Escale-inspired case, with a hand-guilloché gold dial and a hand-crafted GMR 6 movement.
What is the LVKV-02 GMR 6?
Louis Vuitton describes the LVKV-02 GMR 6 as a collaboration designed and developed with Kari Voutilainen. The movement is hand-crafted within the Voutilainen workshop, while the project also draws on the expertise of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. The brand identifies the watch as a limited edition of five pieces. Louis Vuitton’s product editorial presents it as a joint watchmaking project rather than a simple co-branded model.
How does the GMR 6 work?
The GMR 6 is a GMT, with a second-time-zone display. Hodinkee’s launch report describes a 24-hour disc at six o’clock for the second time zone and a retrograde power-reserve indicator. It also reports that the local hour can be adjusted independently while the GMT disc continues to track home time. The “6” in GMR 6 points to the location of the second-time-zone display at six.
Hodinkee reports that the movement has 254 components and a 65-hour power reserve. These are figures from its March 2025 launch coverage, rather than independently verified measurements. Hodinkee’s launch report provides the functional details.

Case and dimensions
The case draws on the design language of Louis Vuitton’s 2024 Escale and is made from tantalum with platinum accents. Louis Vuitton lists a diameter of 40.5 mm and a thickness of 12.44 mm. Those proportions give the watch a substantial precious-metal presence, while the case materials distinguish it from a conventional steel sports GMT.
What makes the dial and movement distinctive?
A hand-worked gold dial
The gold dial center is hand-guilloché by artisans at the Brodbeck guillochage workshop. Its pattern combines a reference to Louis Vuitton’s Damier with Voutilainen’s wave motif. The hour circle is miniature-painted in 28 colors; Louis Vuitton says master painter Maryna Bossy spends over 32 hours painting it.
Finishing visible through the caseback
The GMR 6 caliber is designed and hand-crafted within the Voutilainen workshop. Louis Vuitton highlights Côtes de Genève and perlage finishing, along with a miniature-painted motif on the barrel cover that can be seen through the transparent caseback. The decoration therefore continues beyond the front of the watch rather than ending at the dial.
A matching bespoke trunk
Louis Vuitton says the watch comes in a bespoke trunk made at its Asnières workshop and decorated to echo the dial. The presentation is part of the edition’s craft story, not an indication of additional watch functions.

Edition, launch price, and availability
Louis Vuitton lists the edition as five pieces. In launch coverage dated March 20, 2025, Hodinkee reported a price of €550,000 and said all five pieces had been pre-produced and were immediately available to clients at that time. That is a dated reported launch price, not a current offer or a measure of present market value. Hodinkee also mentioned two prototypes separately; they should not be counted as part of the five-piece edition. Current availability, resale listings, and transaction prices have not been established.
How to assess the watch beyond the name
For collectors comparing independent-watchmaker collaborations, the most useful questions are practical as well as aesthetic:
- Movement and setting: How is the second time zone displayed, and can local time be adjusted without disturbing it?
- Case: Which materials are used, what are the dimensions, and how do they shape the wearing experience?
- Dial and movement craft: Which techniques and makers are involved, and can the movement finishing be seen?
- Edition and presentation: How many watches are in the edition, and what accompanies them?
- Price and access: Is a quoted figure a dated launch price, a current listing, or a completed transaction?
On the LVKV-02 GMR 6, the documented answers include a five-piece edition, tantalum and platinum case, independently adjustable local hour as reported at launch, and distinct guilloché, miniature-painting, and movement-finishing work. Its launch price and reported availability belong specifically to March 2025.
