- Use the listing’s comments section to ask questions or share observations. Loupe This says the highest bidder wins.
The two-minute closing rule
If a new bid arrives in the final two minutes, Loupe This adds two minutes to the closing time. The auction ends only after two minutes pass without another bid. The company says this rule reflects its view that “the clock stops when the bidding stops.” Loupe This How It Works
What a buyer pays and when
Loupe This’ How It Works page states that the buyer fee is 10% of the hammer price. When you win, the card on file is automatically charged up to the full buyer fee, subject to a $10,000 maximum automatic charge; any fee balance is included on the final invoice. The invoice also includes shipping, insurance, and taxes Loupe This is required to collect. Depending on the destination, you may owe additional taxes or duties.

Payment is due when the auction closes, according to the platform’s process page. It lists wire transfer and credit card as payment methods. Credit-card payment up to $50,000 is subject to a 3% surcharge. These figures and payment rules are stated on Loupe This’ current How It Works page; check the live listing, invoice, and Conditions of Sale before bidding, since terms may change.
Calculate the full commitment
Do not treat the hammer price as the total. Before bidding, allow for the 10% buyer fee, shipping and insurance, taxes collected on the invoice, possible destination taxes or duties, and any credit-card surcharge that applies to your payment. The final invoice and your shipping address determine the exact amount.

How consigning a watch works
Loupe This says it first determines whether a watch meets its quality standards. If accepted, the company arranges for the watch to be delivered to its team, which documents it and prepares a listing with photography, a description, and details about what makes it special. After the transaction, the seller receives payment less the listing fee. The About page calls this a one-off consignment fee, but the official pages reviewed do not establish a stable fee amount; check the current submission terms rather than relying on an old figure. Loupe This says it aims to pay sellers within 30 days of receiving a watch. Its FAQ contrasts that aim with a traditional auction-house transaction that it says could take over 90 days. These are the company’s stated comparison and target, not independently measured results or a guaranteed payout deadline. Before consigning, clarify the fee, any reserve arrangement, transport responsibility, and what happens if a lot is unsold or withdrawn.

Vetting, custody, delivery, and authenticity
Loupe This says its team vets every listed watch and that watches remain in the company’s possession during the sale. Its FAQ says that after payment, the watch is shipped fully insured to the buyer’s chosen destination. These statements explain the platform’s stated process; they do not by themselves establish an independent assessment of a particular watch or guarantee an arrival date. Read the individual listing carefully and raise questions through its comments section before bidding.
What the counterfeit guarantee covers
The Conditions of Sale contain a counterfeit guarantee with a four-year period beginning on the auction closing day. The terms define what qualifies as counterfeit, set eligibility and other conditions, and specify cancellation and a refund of the purchase price received as the remedy. It is therefore not an unconditional or transferable warranty covering every authenticity, condition, or provenance concern. Read the current definition, exclusions, claim requirements, and remedy in the Conditions of Sale before relying on it.

What to check before buying or selling
For buyers
- Calculate the total cost beyond the hammer price, including fee, shipping, insurance, taxes, possible duties, and any payment surcharge.
- Review the specific watch’s condition, photographs, description, and provenance information; ask listing-specific questions before bidding.
- Understand the payment deadline and available payment methods, and confirm the current guarantee terms.
- Consider a watchmaker’s loupe only as an optional viewing aid for examining details. It cannot authenticate a watch, and Loupe This does not identify it as a platform-provided tool.
For sellers
- Confirm the current consignment fee and how it is deducted from proceeds.
- Ask about any reserve, delivery arrangements, payout timing, and the treatment of unsold or withdrawn watches.
- Understand what documentation and listing information the platform will prepare and what you must supply.
