Maurice Lacroix expanded the refreshed Pontos S Diver line in 2024 with two distinct finishes: a black DLC-coated steel special edition and a bronze model limited to 888 pieces. They share the same 42 mm case, 300 m water resistance and automatic ML115 movement; the choice is mainly about finish, dial accents, strap material and edition status.
What’s new in the Pontos S Diver range?
The 2024 watches continue the line’s 2023 refresh. The Pontos S Diver dates to 2013, and its two-crown layout and internal rotating bezel draw on the look of 1960s- and 1970s-era compressor-style dive watches. That is a design reference: the historical spring mechanism used in some compressor watches is not described as part of the modern Pontos S Diver.
The refreshed case is 42 mm across, down from 43 mm on the earlier model. Water resistance is 300 m rather than the previous generation’s 600 m, and the newer design omits the helium escape valve. These differences describe the generation change, not a distinction between the two 2024 finishes.
Black DLC and bronze: what differs?
| Feature | Black DLC | Bronze |
|---|---|---|
| Reference | PT6248-DLB00-330-2 | PT6248-BRZ01-330-3 |
| Case | Sandblasted stainless steel with black DLC coating | Brushed bronze |
| Dial and details | Black grained dial; blackened applied hands and markers; white lume and yellow accents. Final version reported with a black date. | Black grained dial; gold PVD hands and markers; beige-toned lume and a black date. |
| Strap and buckle | Black rubber strap with sandblasted black DLC pin buckle | Brown leather strap with bronze pin buckle |
| Edition status | Special edition, not limited | Limited to 888 pieces |
| Price reported in 2024 | EUR 2,200 / CHF 2,100 | EUR 2,650 / CHF 2,500 |
The black DLC treatment gives the steel case a dark, subdued appearance, with yellow and white details supplying contrast. Bronze brings a warmer tone to the case and buckle, echoed by the gold-colored dial furniture and beige lume. The supplied straps reinforce that contrast: practical-looking black rubber on the DLC version, brown leather on the bronze.
