The MB&F M.A.D.1S is a 2024 evolution of the M.A.D.1: it keeps the collection’s rotating-cylinder time display but uses one cylinder instead of two and has a lower-profile case. MB&F lists a 42 mm stainless-steel case, 15 mm height and automatic La Joux-Perret G101 movement. Its public Ice Blue version is distinct from the purple-accent Friends and Tribe edition and the later Yinka Ilori collaboration. MB&F says the original raffle allocation is fully allocated, so the M.A.D.1S should not be treated as currently available directly from the brand.
What is the M.A.D.1S?
MB&F introduced the M.A.D.1S at Geneva Watch Days in 2024 as the fifth release in its M.A.D.Editions story. The brand describes it as a more streamlined interpretation of the M.A.D.1, retaining an unconventional rotating-cylinder display while moving to a single cylinder and a new Swiss-made movement. Rather than conventional central hands, the M.A.D.1S presents the time through a rotating hours cylinder and the accompanying minutes display, as shown on the official model page. The arrangement makes the watch’s top and side views part of its visual identity.

How is it slimmer than the M.A.D.1?
MB&F lists the M.A.D.1S at 15 mm high and calls it “20% slimmer than previous M.A.D.1 editions.” That percentage is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independent measurement. The brand attributes the reduction partly to replacing the earlier two-cylinder hours-and-minutes arrangement with one cylinder; it also says it slimmed the movement and case, reworked the lugs and modified the rotor for greater transparency.

The change is therefore more than a thinner case profile: the display architecture was simplified as part of the redesign. MB&F describes the movement as automatic and unidirectional, with a 68-hour power reserve.
Which M.A.D.1S editions are there?
Public Ice Blue and Friends and Tribe
The initial public M.A.D.1S uses Ice Blue accents. MB&F also describes a purple-accent version reserved for Friends—its suppliers—and Tribe, its collectors. These are separate identities within the original M.A.D.1S release, not the later Yinka Ilori colorways. MB&F says M.A.D.Editions uses raffles as its allocation method rather than drops, queues or indefinite waiting lists.

Yinka Ilori Grow Your Dreams
The later Grow Your Dreams collaboration with British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori comprises Sun, Nature and Water. MB&F describes each as a limited edition of 400 pieces and says the three share technical specifications, differing in their colorways. Each includes an additional interchangeable white strap. The collaboration models are distinct from both the initial public Ice Blue watch and the Friends and Tribe purple-accent version.

The standard product page lists leather for the initial model, while the collaboration page describes rubber straps and an extra white strap for the Ilori editions. Do not assume strap materials or included straps carry across all versions. MB&F’s Grow Your Dreams page also attributes this thought to Maximilian Büsser: “This collaboration has created something that brings joy, a reminder to realise your own dreams.”

Can you still buy an M.A.D.1S?
MB&F’s official FAQ says M.A.D.1 and M.A.D.1S models sold through past raffles are fully allocated; it notes that they might return in future editions in another form. That is the brand’s allocation status, not proof that no pre-owned examples exist. Current resale inventory and market prices are not established by the cited official sources.
For another release, MB&F’s product page invites readers to sign up for notification when a raffle opens. If considering a secondary-market watch, check the seller’s identity, provenance, condition, included straps and documentation, and return terms before committing. These checks are especially useful when an unusual display and version-specific accessories are part of what you are buying.

MB&F’s Manual & Warranty page provides M.A.D.1 and M.A.D.1S downloads, along with a strap setup tutorial for the Yinka Ilori M.A.D.1S. Use the official instructions for model-specific setup rather than assuming that third-party straps will fit; compatibility is not established by the cited material.
What the official specifications do—and do not—establish
The cited MB&F material provides specifications and the brand’s design explanation, but it does not provide independent performance testing, comparative market statistics, current resale pricing or current secondary-market inventory. MB&F also gives an approximate cumulative figure of “around 6000 wrists bearing ownership of a M.A.D.Edition to date”; that is the brand’s stated estimate, not an independently audited count.
