Czapek pairs blue enamel, mother-of-pearl and hand-painted jade with a 38 mm steel case and its automatic SXH5.1 movement. What is the Promenade L’Écume des Jours?
Czapek says the Promenade collection was introduced in 2024 and that this model turns its storytelling toward literature, drawing on Boris Vian’s 1947 novel L’Écume des jours. The watch’s name is also rendered with the novel’s French title, L’Écume des Jours. Czapek’s official product page is the source for the model’s design and specifications; the brand’s homepage provides the collection context.
How the dial interprets the novel
The dial is built in layers: a blue Goutte d’Eau enamel base, pearled mother-of-pearl and a hand-painted jade disc. Czapek describes the piano-key ring as a reference to the novel’s pianocktail. At 4:30, a water-lily seconds display recalls Chloé’s fate in the story. These are the maker’s stated design intentions.
Czapek credits Donzé Cadrans with producing the enamel base and MD’Art with preparing recesses for the mother-of-pearl ring and jade disc. The brand says the inserts are fixed by hand and the black piano keys hand-painted. The titanium water-lily seconds hand is laser-cut, finished with miniature painting and individually assembled.

Czapek lists the model as limited to 18 pieces and gives a price of CHF 26,800 excluding VAT. The brand states that crafting takes approximately 12 months, with production on demand and the schedule communicated after order confirmation. What to weigh before choosing it
- Dial craft: Its appeal is especially tied to the layered materials and the literary references, rather than a conventional plain dial.
- Scale: The listed 38 mm steel case gives a concrete size reference, though fit and appearance depend on wrist and preference.
- Wear expectations: Despite the 50 m (5 ATM) rating, Czapek says not to swim with it.
- Availability: An 18-piece limit and an approximate production time do not establish how many remain or when an individual order will arrive; ask the brand or an official retailer.
