Meizu launched the StarV Ring2 in China on September 25, 2024, with a ¥1,099 introductory price and a ¥1,299 suggested retail price. Its standout feature is not a display or direct glucose sensor, but touch control: the ring can switch short videos, control a phone camera and music playback, and operate selected StarV Air2 AR-glasses functions. Meizu continues to list it in China, where official pages reviewed on August 16–18, 2026 showed promotional prices of ¥699 and ¥899.

The Ring2 is best understood as a lightweight health-tracking ring and remote-control accessory for a specific Meizu and StarV ecosystem—not a smartwatch replacement or medical blood-glucose monitor.

What is the Meizu StarV Ring2?

The StarV Ring2 is a finger-worn smart ring from Meizu’s StarV wearable and extended-reality ecosystem. It combines activity, sleep and wellness tracking with touch-based controls for compatible phones and StarV AR glasses.

Unlike a smartwatch, it has no conventional screen. The ring sends inputs to another device, so features such as short-video navigation, camera control and music playback depend on a compatible phone, app or StarV glasses product.

Meizu lists a ceramic exterior in a Meteor Black finish. The official product information positions it for heart-rate, sleep, blood-oxygen, temperature-trend, stress and exercise monitoring, alongside remote-control features.

Meizu’s official StarV Ring2 specifications provide the manufacturer’s detailed feature and compatibility information.

Launch date and pricing

Meizu introduced the StarV Ring2 at its AI Ecosystem Launch Event on September 25, 2024. Launch coverage reported a Chinese introductory price of ¥1,099, compared with a suggested retail price of ¥1,299. Gizmochina’s launch report established the original announcement and launch pricing.

That launch should not be confused with the product’s later availability. Meizu’s Chinese online storefront continued to list the ring in August 2026. Pages reviewed on August 16–18 showed:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • ¥899 on an official listing and in Meizu’s accessory catalog.
  • ¥699 on one official mall page as a limited-time promotional price.
  • ¥1,299 as the reference or list price.

These are China-market observations, not a guaranteed worldwide price. Stock, shipping, language support, returns and warranty coverage may differ outside China. The official Taiwan page provides product information, while the available global page does not by itself establish broad international retail availability.

The Ring2’s unusual feature: touch controls

The Ring2’s most distinctive purpose is controlling connected devices without reaching for a phone. Meizu’s Taiwan product page lists these gestures:

Gesture Function
Single tap Confirm
Double tap Cancel or go back
Long press Return to the home screen
Swipe Switch between selections

Supported functions include phone-camera photo and video capture, music playback and switching short videos on Douyin. With compatible StarV Air2 glasses, Meizu lists controls for answering or ending calls, turning teleprompter pages and controlling the glasses’ display.

“Tap-to-swipe short videos” does not mean the ring displays or streams video. It acts as a remote input device: the connected phone or glasses handle the actual content.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How much this matters depends on the buyer’s setup. The feature is more compelling for someone who already uses Meizu phones or StarV Air2 glasses than for someone seeking a conventional health ring with no interest in device control.

Health and fitness features

Meizu’s official specifications list the following tracking and assessment features:

  • Heart-rate monitoring
  • Exercise monitoring
  • Sleep monitoring and sleep-quality assessment
  • Blood-oxygen monitoring
  • Body-temperature trend monitoring
  • Stress monitoring
  • Steps, distance, calories and activity goals
  • High-blood-sugar-risk assessment

The last item needs careful interpretation. Meizu markets it as a high-blood-sugar-risk assessment, not as direct blood-glucose measurement. The Ring2 should not be used to diagnose diabetes, adjust medication or replace a clinically validated glucose test.

Meizu’s specification page claims a blood-sugar-risk metric of MARD <20%. MARD can be meaningful only when the reference method, study population, testing conditions and validation design are known. The available product information does not establish those details, so the figure should not be treated as proof of clinical accuracy.

That makes the feature more appropriately viewed as an experimental wellness indicator than a medical measurement.

Water protection IP68 and 5ATM, according to Meizu’s Taiwan page

The advertised up to 15 days refers to standby or long-standby use, according to Meizu. It should not be read as a guarantee of 15 days under continuous monitoring, frequent exercise tracking, constant phone connectivity and regular gesture use. Actual endurance will vary with settings and usage.

IP68 and 5ATM are also different types of protection claims. They do not constitute a promise that the ring is suitable for every swimming, diving, hot-water or high-pressure situation. Follow Meizu’s usage guidance rather than treating “water-resistant” as unrestricted waterproofing.

Phone compatibility

Although Meizu describes the Ring2 as compatible with Android and iOS, its compatibility note is model-specific. The listed devices and software requirements include:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Meizu: Meizu 20 Pro and 20 Infinity; Meizu 21 series with Flyme 11 or later.
  • Huawei: Mate 40 Pro, Mate 50 series, Mate 60, P40 Pro and P50 series with HarmonyOS 3.0 or later.
  • Xiaomi: Xiaomi 12 and 13 series with MIUI 13 or later.
  • OPPO: Find X5 and Find X6 series with ColorOS 13 or later.
  • vivo: X90 and X100 series with OriginOS 3 or later.
  • Apple: iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series with iOS 16 or later.

Meizu said other models were awaiting adaptation when the compatibility information was published. Therefore, an unsupported Android phone or iPhone may fail to pair, offer incomplete health features or lack the Ring2’s camera, short-video and glasses controls.

Before importing one, check the exact phone model, operating-system version and intended app region. “Android support” is not the same as universal support for every Android handset.

Practical limitations before buying

It depends on an ecosystem

The Ring2’s headline controls are most useful with compatible software and, for glasses features, compatible StarV hardware. A buyer who owns neither a supported phone nor StarV Air2 glasses may receive a less distinctive experience than the launch demonstrations suggest.

Fit affects comfort and readings

Ring sizing is less forgiving than watch-band sizing. A loose ring can move and reduce reliable sensor contact; an overly tight ring can become uncomfortable, especially during sleep or exercise. Skin condition, sweat, movement and finger placement can also influence readings. Select from the listed sizes carefully and confirm the seller’s exchange policy before ordering.

Imported units may be difficult to service

China-market hardware can involve regional app, language, payment, shipping and warranty restrictions. International buyers should verify the return address, repair process, app availability and whether customer support covers their country.

Health insights are not medical care

Heart rate, sleep, oxygen, temperature and stress features may be useful for observing trends, but the product information does not establish independent clinical validation for every metric. A risk score—especially one related to blood sugar—should not replace a clinician or an approved medical device.

Who should consider the StarV Ring2?

The Ring2 makes the most sense for:

  • Meizu phone owners who want a small companion device.
  • StarV Air2 users who would benefit from hands-free glasses controls.
  • Buyers interested in a lightweight ceramic ring for sleep, activity and wellness trends.
  • Early adopters who value touch input and remote camera or short-video control.

It is a weaker fit for:

  • People using phones outside Meizu’s stated compatibility list.
  • Buyers who want a screen, notifications or standalone smartwatch functions.
  • Anyone seeking a clinically validated glucose monitor.
  • International customers who need clear local warranty and shipping support.

Verdict

The Meizu StarV Ring2 is an unusual smart ring because it combines ordinary wearable tracking with touch controls for phones and StarV AR glasses. Its strongest selling point is the remote interaction layer—not direct glucose monitoring, a built-in display or universal phone compatibility.

At the China-market promotional prices observed in August 2026, it may be attractive to users already inside Meizu’s ecosystem. For everyone else, compatibility, regional support, sizing and the limited context behind its high-blood-sugar-risk claims are reasons to proceed cautiously.
