What is the Méraud Antigua?
Introduced in 2023, the Antigua is a mechanical chronograph designed around classic regatta and maritime cues. Méraud founder and designer Stijn Busschaert described the watch as a connection to the coast and the open sea in the brand’s launch release. The dial’s 45-minute chronograph counter and tachymeter give the layout a distinctive vintage-sport character. Europa Star’s February 2023 launch announcement framed the model as a limited-edition release.
What movement is in the Méraud Antigua?
The Antigua uses a manually wound Landeron caliber 248. Méraud lists 17 jewels, a frequency of 18,000 beats per hour (2.5 Hz), Incabloc shock protection and a 41-hour power reserve. The caliber is no longer in production. Méraud describes its movements as new old stock that have been completely reassembled; Europa Star’s launch release says each movement was completely overhauled and has an engraved bridge. These are maker and launch-release descriptions, not independent inspection findings.
A vintage movement gives the Antigua a provenance and character distinct from a contemporary production caliber, but it also makes service history a reasonable ownership question. The available specifications do not establish a measured accuracy for the finished watch or quantify how it performs over time. Ask the seller or brand about service documentation and support before buying a pre-owned example.

Case, materials and wearing dimensions
Méraud lists a 316L stainless-steel case measuring 40 mm across, 48.6 mm from lug to lug and 13.5 mm thick, including the crystals. The lug width is 20 mm. The length and thickness are worth considering alongside the moderate diameter: the watch may wear more substantially than its 40 mm measurement alone suggests, though wrist fit depends on wrist shape and personal preference.

The 100 m / 10 ATM figure is the manufacturer’s stated rating, not a guarantee of suitability for every water activity. Follow Méraud’s use guidance and have the seals checked as appropriate, particularly on a vintage or pre-owned watch.

Dial variants and strap fit
The Antigua is listed with either a gloss-black dial or a grained cream dial. Both use applied polished indices, luminous details, contrasting hands and a 45-minute chronograph counter. The overall design balances a vintage-inspired display with a prominent counter and tachymeter scale.
The 20 mm lug width provides the key measurement for choosing a replacement strap. Méraud says an extra Tropic rubber strap is supplied, and the leather strap is made by Brussels-based Molequin. For a third-party strap, confirm not only that it is 20 mm wide but also that its attachment style works with the watch; the lug measurement alone does not establish compatibility with every strap.

Edition size, launch price and current availability
The edition figures refer to different levels: Europa Star’s February 2023 launch release described 200 Antigua watches in total, while Méraud’s Miho Black product page lists that variant as limited to 100 pieces. The maker also lists Soft Sand. The pages reviewed do not provide a complete serial-number allocation, so the clearest reading is a 200-piece release overall with 100-piece variants rather than 200 examples of each color.
Price figures also need a date and context. Fratello reported a February 2023 launch price of €1,750 excluding VAT. Méraud’s product listings displayed €1,825 on its European page and $2,138 on its US collection page when checked on October 7, 2026; both variants were marked sold out, so those displayed prices should not be read as current purchase offers. On October 7, 2026, Méraud’s collection page showed Miho Black and Soft Sand as sold out. The Miho Black product page offered a waitlist prompt for the next release, but no release date was stated and a waitlist is not a guarantee of availability. Who should consider the Antigua?
The Antigua is most compelling for someone who specifically wants a hand-wound chronograph with a vintage Landeron caliber, maritime styling and a sapphire display back. The practical evaluation should include the restored movement’s service history, the 48.6 mm lug-to-lug span and 13.5 mm thickness, intended use in water, and whether an example is genuinely available at the quoted price. Méraud’s stated specifications and the 2023 launch coverage establish the design and movement story, but they do not substitute for independent accuracy testing or a personal fit check.
