Underneath, it is closely related to the Fossil Gen 5 platform; the Michael Kors premium mostly buys the case, bracelet, branding, and watch faces—not a different class of smartwatch. Its battery and aging software make it a poor buy at anything near its original $350 price. In 2026, consider one only at a steep discount, with a working charger and a return option.
What the Lexington 2 is—and what it is not
Launched in 2019, the Access Lexington 2 is a Michael Kors-branded Wear OS watch built within the Fossil Group smartwatch family. Its Snapdragon Wear 3100, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage put it in the same broad hardware generation as the Fossil Gen 5. That does not establish that every component or software build is identical, but the underlying smartwatch proposition is similar: the Lexington 2 differentiates itself chiefly through Michael Kors styling and branded faces. Digital Trends’ review and 9to5Google’s review discuss that relationship.
At launch, the standard model cost $350; embellished versions covered in Digital Trends’ reporting reached roughly $395–$425. Those are historical prices, not current offers. As of August 2026, the related US Gen 5 Lexington pages checked show Sold Out and no displayed price: silver tone, pavé two-tone, and gold tone. These later listings establish the family resemblance, not that every listing is the exact original Lexington 2 SKU.
Design and comfort
The watch’s main selling point is immediately visible: an approximately 44mm stainless-steel case, prominent bezel, and polished or two-tone dress-watch styling. Metal-bracelet versions look more like conventional jewelry than a typical sport band smartwatch. The case is conspicuous and can feel large or heavy, especially on a smaller wrist; the bracelet may also interfere with wrist movement during exercise. Bracelet links can require a sizing tool or a visit to a watch shop. Interchangeable straps give some flexibility, but do not change the substantial case.

Reviewers praised its premium, eye-catching appearance while noting the practical compromises of the size and metal construction. It is better suited to office or evening wear than regular gym sessions or comfortable overnight tracking. Digital Trends provides contemporary impressions of the design.
Display and controls
The Lexington 2 has a 1.28-inch AMOLED display with 390×390 resolution, according to Phandroid’s review. It is sharp enough for watch faces, messages, and brief glances, though its large bezel and older display design do not feel especially modern in 2026. The glass is Gorilla Glass 3, not sapphire, so buyers should inspect a used unit for scratches.
Controls include a rotating side crown and additional side buttons. The crown is a functional control rather than merely decorative. Phandroid reported a problem with automatic brightness in its review; treat that as one reviewer’s experience, not a guaranteed fault on every unit. Reviewers also reported occasional missed touches, which can make navigation less consistent than the watch’s premium exterior suggests.

Smart features and performance
The Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, 1GB RAM, and 8GB storage made the Lexington 2 comparatively well-equipped for its 2019 generation. It includes GPS, NFC, a heart-rate sensor, microphone, and speaker. Ordinary scrolling and app use were generally workable in reviews, but intermittent stutters, delayed touch response, and slow app loading were also reported. More memory did not eliminate Wear OS’s occasional sluggishness. See the period assessments from Digital Trends and 9to5Google.
Wear OS supplied the core functions: phone notifications, Google Assistant, Maps, Keep, music controls, downloadable apps, watch faces and tiles, and Google Fit-era activity tracking. The Lexington 2 adds Michael Kors-branded faces and fashion touches, but not a separate software ecosystem. Reviews described setup failures and unreliable or slow Play Store behavior as well as occasional lag. This is older Snapdragon Wear 3100-era Wear OS, not a Wear OS 3, 4, or 5 watch. The available evidence does not establish current app compatibility, security-patch status, or continuing support for this exact model.
Payments, GPS, and calls
NFC payment support was advertised as Google Pay at launch, and built-in GPS can record location without carrying the phone. Neither makes the watch independent of a phone: this model has no LTE, and calls are routed through the paired phone. Payment services can depend on region, bank, account, software, and current platform support, so do not assume they will work on a particular used unit in 2026. The microphone and speaker allow occasional wrist calls and voice interactions, but reviewers found the speaker tinny, distant, or quiet. Treat it as a convenience, not a substitute for a phone conversation.

Fitness and water resistance
The Lexington 2 can cover basic activity needs: steps, estimated calories and distance, heart-rate readings, GPS distance tracking, activity goals, and guided breathing. These are general smartwatch features, not a serious training system. The watch lacks the specialized training depth, endurance, and rugged emphasis expected from a fitness-first model; its metal bracelet and large case are also awkward for frequent workouts. Heart-rate observations in reviews were not medical or laboratory validation, and this is not a medical device.
Michael Kors described the family as swimproof and specified water resistance up to 30 meters. That should not be read as an endorsement for diving, high-pressure water, or hot tubs. Water seals can deteriorate with age, impact, or repair, making water resistance particularly uncertain on a secondhand watch.
Battery life: plan on charging nightly
Launch materials claimed up to approximately 36 hours in Daily use. That figure is a manufacturer claim, not a dependable expectation for every owner. Independent reviews varied: TechRadar reported just over a full day with general use, Digital Trends did not approach 36 hours under regular use and expected overnight charging, while 9to5Google reported just short of two days in its testing. Settings, notifications, GPS use, and battery condition affect results. The reviews are useful evidence about new units at the time, not a prediction for a used battery in 2026.

Battery modes included Daily, Extended, Custom, and Time-Only. Lower-power modes can extend runtime by reducing or disabling functions; the longest-running mode is not equivalent to normal smartwatch use. The Lexington 2’s battery is 350mAh according to launch coverage. For a used unit several years old, expect capacity to be worse than when new and ask the seller for a realistic runtime under ordinary use.

Michael Kors’ related product pages describe the Gen 5 Lexington as compatible with Android and iPhone, but a product-era compatibility statement cannot guarantee successful pairing or full service support with a current phone. Before paying, verify the exact phone and operating-system version, the current Wear OS companion-app pairing process, and whether the functions you need—notifications, Assistant, maps, music controls, and payments—work on that specific combination. Do not assume a current minimum OS version from historical listings.

- Inspect the display for scratches, the buttons and crown for reliable operation, and the bracelet links and clasp for looseness or damage.
- Check the exact model and finish; a later Gen 5 Lexington listing should not be treated as proof of an identical Lexington 2 configuration.
- Read the seller’s warranty and return terms. Historical warranty coverage varies by market and policy: 2019 US reporting cited two years, while current related Michael Kors pages list one year. Neither should be assumed to cover a particular old or secondhand unit. The historical policy document is available at Michael Kors’ warranty PDF.
Who should buy it—and what to choose instead
The Lexington 2 makes sense only for someone who specifically wants Michael Kors’ dress-watch look, accepts daily charging and older software, and finds a working unit at a substantial discount with meaningful return protection. It is a poor choice if the price approaches that of a newer smartwatch.
| Buyer priority | Better direction | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Michael Kors styling with smartwatch basics | A discounted, returnable Lexington 2 or a Fossil Gen 5-family watch | Both are old Wear OS products; the Fossil route may avoid paying mainly for Michael Kors branding, but has similar age and support risks. |
| iPhone integration | Apple Watch | Designed for iPhone owners; not suitable for Android users. Current model and price were not established here. |
| A fuller Android smartwatch experience | A newer Samsung Galaxy Watch or current Wear OS model | Less focused on Michael Kors’ formal styling; check the exact model and phone compatibility. |
| Training, outdoor use, and battery endurance | Garmin or another fitness-first watch | Less like a jewelry-style dress watch and generally a different app experience. |
| Appearance without smartwatch apps | A conventional Michael Kors watch | Gives up notifications, GPS, payments, and other connected-watch functions, but avoids relying on aging smartwatch software. |
For iPhone owners, Apple Watch is generally the more deeply integrated choice; for Android owners seeking a modern smartwatch, Samsung or a newer Wear OS model is the more sensible comparison. Digital Trends’ original review also compared the Lexington 2 with Apple and Samsung alternatives, but its assessment reflects the models and prices available at the time, not current offers.
