The original Minase 7 Windows was a 2018 limited edition of 40 watches worldwide. Its defining feature is a rectangular case with sapphire windows that reveal the layered, case-in-case construction around the dial. Do not confuse that edition with the Seven Windows models Minase continues to list today: those later watches have different specifications and do not establish that one of the original 40 is currently for sale.
What “Seven Windows” means
The name refers to sapphire glazing around the rectangular case, not seven separate displays on the dial. Contemporary accounts describe windows on the front and back as well as the sides, including two on the crown side. The arrangement lets light into the case and makes its construction visible.
At the center of the design is a case-in-case structure. The dial appears layered and almost suspended within the surrounding case, while the windows expose parts of that architecture. Minase continues this design language in its Seven Windows collection, but the current collection is not the same product as the 40-piece 2018 edition. Minase’s official Seven Windows collection includes later models.

How it differs from a current Seven Windows model
The current collection includes watches with different movements and specifications. For a concrete example, Minase’s official page for the VM15-M01YIB-SSB Yukihira lists an automatic KT7002 based on ETA 2892, a date display, 5-atmosphere water resistance, dimensions of 37.4 × 46.5 × 13 mm, and an approximate weight of 160 g. Its Japanese listing price at the time of access was ¥726,000. None of those figures should be attributed to the 2018 40-piece edition. See Minase’s official VM15-M01YIB-SSB specifications.
Minase announced the Yukihira dial on 2025-03-17, further illustrating that Seven Windows is an ongoing design family rather than a single unchanged reference. Minase’s Yukihira dial announcement.

Is one of the 40 available now?
The cited reporting establishes the original run and its launch-era details, but does not establish whether any of the 40 watches is currently for sale, what one would be worth today, its exact reference number, or its current service and repair terms. A current Seven Windows listing is not proof that the limited edition is available.
If considering a purported example, ask a specialist seller or watchmaker to verify its edition documentation, condition and service history before purchase. Treat any asking price as a present-market claim requiring independent verification, rather than relying on the differing 2018 launch figures.
