The MING 18.01 H41 is a 40 mm titanium dive watch with a manufacturer-stated water-resistance rating of 1 km (3,280 ft), a time-only modified ETA 2824-2 movement and an unusually luminous dial. It is also discontinued: MING says the watch is sold out, deliveries are complete and it will not be produced again. The maker’s specifications make it a compelling technical proposition, but they do not establish independent verification of the depth rating or tell you what a pre-owned example is worth today.
There is an important limit to the “hands-on” label. Contemporary physical impressions came from later coverage by Fratello and Hodinkee; Fratello’s original launch article disclosed that its author had not received the prototype in time. Those reports offer launch-era handling context, not a current inspection or long-term ownership record.
What the H41 is—and what its depth rating means
MING designed the 18.01 H41 as a functional diver in the brand’s distinctive visual language. The official specification lists a 40 mm grade 5 titanium case, 12.9 mm thickness, 46 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 65 g head weight. MING rates it to 1 km (3,280 ft) of water resistance. That figure is the manufacturer’s stated rating; the available material does not establish independent certification or a specific test protocol. It should not be read as a claim that a particular owner has tested the watch at that depth.
The case has a solid caseback and a screw-down crown with triple gaskets and a red safety indicator. The 3.5 mm sapphire crystal is anti-reflective coated on both sides. MING says the case evolved from its earlier Abyss design, with grade 5 titanium helping achieve the relatively low listed weight and 12.9 mm profile.

How the design serves diving use
Bezel and case
The timing bezel is solid steel with a DLC coating, rotates counterclockwise in 60 clicks and has a luminous scale. MING says it chose a solid bezel rather than an insert to avoid an insert coming loose under pressure changes or impact, and to preserve contrast. That is the maker’s design rationale, not a separately verified performance comparison.
Dial and lume
The two-part composite dial incorporates sapphire-fused HyCeram Super-LumiNova X1. MING says essentially every white element is luminous, including elements beyond the hands and markers. Its product page jokes, “We do not recommend wearing it at night if you are a light sleeper.” As with any luminous watch, the material needs exposure to sunlight or a strong light source to charge; the product guide does not promise a specific glow duration.

Crown and legibility details
The central seconds hand provides a running indication, while the red crown safety indicator makes it easier to notice when the crown is not fully screwed down. MING’s guide says the crown must be pushed in and screwed down for wearing and water resistance. When unscrewed but not pulled out, it can be used to hand-wind, but the watch is not water resistant in that state.
Movement and stated specifications
The H41 is time-only: hours, minutes and continuous seconds, with the date removed from a top-grade ETA 2824-2 automatic movement modified for MING by Schwarz-Etienne. MING lists a 40-hour power reserve, 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz), 25 jewels, hacking seconds and adjustment to five positions with a 250-hour test program. These are manufacturer-published specifications; they do not amount to a public independent reliability study or owner survey.

What the hands-on coverage can—and cannot—tell you
Fratello’s launch article is useful for release details, but it explicitly said the author had not received the prototype before publication. Later Fratello follow-up and Hodinkee coverage provide contemporary hands-on impressions of physical examples. They can inform a reader about launch-era handling and presentation, but they are not evidence of long-term durability, repeated dive use or the condition of a watch being offered now. A pre-owned H41 should be assessed as an individual watch, not assumed to match an early reviewer’s sample.
Straps and configurations
The H41 was offered in three documented launch configurations. Fratello listed CHF 2,950 for the two-tone case on rubber and CHF 3,250 for either the two-tone case on titanium bracelet or black DLC case on rubber. These were launch prices reported in 2020, with shipping then expected in November; they are not current resale prices.

| Launch configuration | Reported 2020 launch price | Strap or bracelet |
|---|---|---|
| Two-tone case | CHF 2,950 (Fratello, 2020) | Jean Rousseau rubber strap |
| Two-tone case | CHF 3,250 (Fratello, 2020) | Grade 5 titanium bracelet |
| Black DLC case | CHF 3,250 (Fratello, 2020) | Jean Rousseau rubber strap |
The bracelet is a five-link grade 5 titanium design with a proprietary deployant clasp and interlock, plus a universal quick-release curved-end fitting. The rubber strap is a curved quick-release Jean Rousseau Paris strap sized 20 x 18 mm with a signed pin buckle. That curved connection matters: do not assume an ordinary straight-end 20 mm strap will fit correctly. MING’s design journal recommends the rubber strap for diving, citing fewer mechanical elements and the ability to adjust it over a wetsuit; that is the manufacturer’s preference, not a universal rule for every diver.
A handmade leather travel pouch by Studio Koji Sato was included, according to MING. On a used watch, check whether the pouch and original strap or bracelet components are present rather than assuming completeness.

Operating and caring for the H41
- Wind a stopped watch: Unscrew the crown without pulling it out, then turn it 20–30 times and give the watch a light shake, following MING’s guide. Shaking or wearing alone does not fully wind a stopped movement.
- Set the time: Pull the crown to the third position. The seconds hand hacks while setting.
- Secure it for wear: Push the crown fully in and screw it down. The unscrewed position is not water resistant, even if the crown has not been pulled out.
- Time an interval: Use the unidirectional bezel, which turns counterclockwise in 60 clicks.
- Clean the watch: MING recommends a soft, clean, damp cloth and discourages cleaning agents or solutions. Charge the lume with sunlight or a strong light source.
Is the MING 18.01 H41 still available?
No longer new from MING. The official product page says it is sold out, deliveries are complete and there will be no further production. That makes the H41 a pre-owned or auction-market search rather than a current-production purchase. Phillips cataloged an H41 in 2023, which shows an example appeared in auction material; it does not establish current availability or a market price.
No defensible current resale range or live inventory is established here. Do not calculate a current value by carrying forward the 2020 retail prices. When considering a listing, compare the exact case and strap configuration, condition, service documentation, included accessories, seller or auction protections, and asking price. Because the watch is discontinued, inspection and documentation matter more than relying on a launch review or a single past listing.
Why the model is called H41
MING’s development journal, published on 15 August 2020, says the final design variant went through 41 revisions—hence “H41.” The brand describes the process as balancing technical diver requirements, practical input from divers on its team and its then-current design language. The revision count explains the name; by itself, it is not a measure of durability or performance.
