The MONOCHROME Montre de Souscription 4 “Seconde Morte” is a 33-piece limited-edition dress watch made with Austrian independent watchmaker Habring². Its central seconds hand advances once each second—a mechanical deadbeat-seconds display—inside a compact, brushed-steel case. The original subscription price was €6,000 excluding taxes, but the official MONOCHROME shop now lists the edition as sold out.
What is the Montre de Souscription 4?
It is the fourth watch in MONOCHROME’s Montre de Souscription series, created in collaboration with Habring² using the Erwin Seconde Morte as its base. MONOCHROME credits Pietro Pilla with the distinctive dial design. The release was limited to 33 watches.
Its name points to its defining feature: “seconde morte,” or deadbeat seconds. Unlike the seconds hand on a typical mechanical watch, which appears to sweep around the dial, this watch’s central seconds hand jumps forward once per second. That one-second interval is produced mechanically by the hand-wound Habring² A11S movement, not by a quartz module.
Design and case dimensions
The three-part stainless-steel case is brushed, with a double-step bezel and drilled lugs. Its 38.5 mm diameter, 9 mm thickness and 45.6 mm lug-to-lug span give a more compact profile than many contemporary dress watches. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial; a sapphire back reveals the movement and carries MONOCHROME/Montre de Souscription engravings. The stated water-resistance rating is 30 metres.

The glossy black lacquer dial draws on Art Deco styling. Applied polished Roman numerals and diamond-shaped markers stand against white printed tracks and logos, with a “Seconde Morte” indication at six o’clock. Polished steel leaf-shaped hands complete the display.
The supplied handmade taupe nubuck strap has cream stitching, a light-blue leather lining, a steel pin buckle and quick-release spring bars. No strap width is stated, so the quick-release feature alone does not establish which replacement straps will fit.

Habring² A11S movement
The manually wound A11S measures 30 mm across and 5.7 mm thick. Habring² specifies 21 jewels, 126 components, a single barrel, a 48-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
The official product description lists a tangential-screw fine adjustment, an anti-magnetic escapement, a Carl Haas balance spring and KIF shock protection. It says most components are made in-house by Habring² or custom-made by independent suppliers to the watchmaker’s specifications. Hand-applied finishing is visible through the sapphire caseback.

Original price and subscription terms
The official price was €6,000 excluding VAT or other applicable taxes. Reserving a watch required a non-refundable €2,000 deposit, also excluding taxes; the balance was due when the watch was ready to ship. The official listing said insured shipping was included and specified a three-year Habring² warranty. Final tax and tariff costs depend on the delivery destination.
The subscription was scheduled to run for up to two weeks, or until all 33 watches were sold. MONOCHROME’s original schedule forecast first deliveries in January 2026 and final deliveries by March 2026. Fratello’s December 18, 2025 coverage instead described delivery in February and March 2026. These were forecasts, not confirmation that every watch shipped on schedule.

Can you still buy it?
The official MONOCHROME shop listing currently marks the edition sold out. A Legacy Watch Co. search result has shown a used 2026 example with box and papers as “Price on Request,” but that does not confirm that the watch remains available or that a sale took place. No current Amazon inventory is established. Anyone considering a secondary-market example should confirm its live availability, condition, included papers and box, and final price directly with the seller.
What to compare before buying a similar watch
For a useful comparison, consider the dimensions together rather than relying on diameter alone, and check how the seconds display, winding method, dial layout, water-resistance rating, warranty and production availability fit your needs. Compare the actual landed price after destination taxes and shipping, not just a pre-tax list price. A 30-metre rating is not a basis for treating this dress watch as suitable for swimming.
