The Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Dual Time reference 112648 is a slim, dress-oriented automatic watch whose main practical feature is a second time zone alongside local time. Its 41 mm steel case, silver dial and bracelet give it a restrained look; its 30 m water-resistance rating and the uncertainty around present-day condition make the specific example more important than the model’s old launch reputation.
What the 112648 is
This review focuses on the stainless-steel bracelet version, reference 112648. Prestige Time lists a 41 mm case, silver dial, automatic movement, transparent caseback and 20 mm lug width; its listing also gives a case thickness of 9.97 mm. Jackroad identifies the movement as Montblanc calibre MB 29.19 and lists a date, dual-time function, sapphire crystal, steel bracelet and 30 m water resistance. These are retailer-listed specifications, not results from an independent inspection of every surviving example. Prestige Time’s 112648 listing · Jackroad’s listing
The Heritage Chronométrie collection launched at SIHH 2015, according to the GPHG collection history. The Dual Time fits the collection’s classical dress-watch character while adding a complication with everyday utility for people who track another time zone.
How the dual-time display works
The second time zone is the reason to choose this model over a simpler dress watch. Jackroad lists both date and dual-time functions for reference 112648, but the most detailed operating description available here is for related reference 112540—not the bracelet reference reviewed above. Montblanc’s 2015 collection brochure says that 112540 has a second-zone display at 12 o’clock with 24-hour/day-night indication, a date at 3 o’clock, and a local hour that can be adjusted in one-hour steps. In that documented version, the reference minutes and seconds continue running as the local hour is changed, and the date is synchronized. Those specific display and setting details should not be assumed to apply identically to every 112648 without checking the watch or its documentation. Montblanc’s 2015 collection brochure

In practical terms, a traveler can use the local-time display for the destination and retain a reference to home time. Before buying, ask the seller to demonstrate how the exact watch sets both times and date, and confirm that the second-time-zone indication is legible in the conditions in which you expect to use it.
Size, styling and wrist fit
At 41 mm across and about 9.97 mm thick in Prestige Time’s listing, the 112648 has a relatively restrained profile for a contemporary automatic watch. Those dimensions suggest it can sit neatly under many shirt cuffs, but fit depends on wrist shape, lug span and bracelet adjustment as well as diameter. If possible, try the specific watch on rather than relying on the case measurement alone.

The silver dial and steel bracelet make the listed version versatile within a formal-to-smart-casual wardrobe. Its look is more classical than sporty; the watch’s slimness and dress orientation are a better match for office wear and occasions than for rough outdoor use. The listing’s 20 mm lug width also gives owners a potential route to a replacement strap, but lug width alone does not guarantee that a particular strap, clasp or bracelet end link will fit. Verify compatibility with the exact reference and hardware.
Movement details—and what is not established
Jackroad lists an MB 29.19 automatic movement in reference 112648. Montblanc’s 2015 brochure gives more technical detail for related reference 112540: MB 29.19, 34 jewels, approximately 42 hours of power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Since that brochure describes a different reference, treat those figures as documentation for 112540, not confirmed specifications for every 112648. Check the paperwork or ask a qualified watchmaker to verify the movement and variant in an individual example.

The available material does not establish an independently measured accuracy rate, a reliability record, a current service interval or a service price for reference 112648. There is no basis here for claiming that every example performs to a particular daily rate or will need service on a specific schedule.
Water resistance and condition
Jackroad lists water resistance at 30 m, or 3 bar. That is a modest rating, not a reason to choose the watch for swimming or diving. More importantly for an older watch, a printed or catalogued rating does not guarantee that its seals remain effective today. Ask for a recent pressure test if water exposure matters, and do not treat an untested pre-owned watch as water-resistant simply because its original specification says so.

For a used example, have a qualified watchmaker assess the watch’s operation and condition. A sensible inspection includes the second-time-zone setting, date change, crown action, bracelet wear and available service records. This is buyer due diligence, not a manufacturer-mandated service checklist.

That depends on the individual watch and asking price. Prestige Time marks its 112648 listing no longer available, and WatchCharts tracks the bracelet reference in the secondary market; these show that buyers may encounter it through pre-owned or collector listings, but they do not prove universal unavailability or establish a current fair value. No verified current transaction price is available here, so the 2015 launch-era value judgment should not be treated as a present-day pricing guide. WatchCharts model page

Time+Tide’s Felix Scholz called the watch “right in Montblanc’s new sweet spot” in a review published on 6 October 2015, describing its appeal in the context of the launch period. That is a dated editorial assessment, not evidence that a particular used example is attractively priced today. Time+Tide’s 2015 review
Compare actual listings on more than the headline price. Check the precise reference, case and bracelet condition, completeness, movement documentation, service history, seller reputation and the return or inspection terms. A lower asking price can be offset by overdue service or bracelet work; a box and papers may help identify an example but cannot substitute for a condition check.
112648 versus related Dual Time references
Do not combine specifications from different versions into a single assumed spec sheet. Retailer records identify 112648 as the steel-bracelet model, while Montblanc’s 2015 brochure documents related reference 112540. The brochure provides useful context for the complication, but it does not establish that 112540 and 112648 are interchangeable in every detail.
