The March 2022 watch-world conversation brought together three very different stories: the launch of eleven Omega × Swatch MoonSwatch models, a writer’s wish list for a future Rolex Daytona, and two limited-run Unimatic Modello Uno divers. The Daytona designs were speculation—not Rolex announcements—and the launch details below describe what was reported at the time, not what is available today.
What happened after the MoonSwatch launch?
In a March 28, 2022 article for Fratello, Lex Stolk described queues at launch and a divided response. Some enthusiasts saw the Omega × Swatch collaboration as an enjoyable take on the Speedmaster; others questioned how closely a Swatch-made watch could relate to the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.
The collection comprised eleven models named for celestial bodies: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Stolk reported that the collection was not a limited edition, even though demand and boutique availability made the launch feel scarce. That is a description of the March 2022 launch, not a guide to current stock.
A Speedmaster design in Bioceramic
The watches brought Speedmaster design cues to Swatch’s Bioceramic material. Stolk praised the case shape and the dial and bezel details, and singled out the red rocket-shaped hands on Mission to Mars. Those are the author’s impressions of the watches, rather than results of independent testing.

The launch provoked both enthusiasm and skepticism. One unnamed reader summed up the contrast between price and shopping experience by saying, “Omega made a Speedmaster for the price of a Swatch and created a Rolex-buying experience.”
What Daytona did Stolk imagine for 2022?
Stolk’s Daytona section was a set of personal design proposals written ahead of Watches and Wonders 2022. It did not report a Rolex announcement. His concepts ranged from a steel “panda” with more pronounced black subdials and red chronograph accents to more adventurous material and color combinations.

The article gave the then-current Daytona’s dimensions as 40 × 12.2 mm, 46.5 mm lug-to-lug, and 20 mm lug width. These are historical figures reported in 2022, not a statement of current specifications.
A faster movement was a wish, not a forecast
Stolk described the caliber 4130 as operating at 4 Hz, with a 72-hour power reserve and a stated daily rate of ±2 seconds per day. He argued that a future Daytona should use a higher-frequency movement, imagining 36,000 vibrations per hour and at least 80 hours of power reserve, with a dual-escapement idea among the possibilities. He put his preference plainly: “That’s why the next-generation Daytona deserves a 36,000vph engine with at least 80 hours of power reserve and superlative-chronometer performance.” This was his opinion about a desired future watch, not evidence of Rolex’s plans.

What were the two Unimatic Modello Uno releases?
The same article covered two automatic Modello Uno divers. Both were reported with a 40 × 11.6 mm case, Sellita SW200-1 movement, 60-minute unidirectional bezel, matte black engraved aluminum insert, and 300-meter water resistance. Their white sword hands were paired with circular, rectangular, and triangular indices.

How to read the three stories together
The MoonSwatch launch was a real collaboration whose appeal and reception were contested. The Daytona section was a watch writer’s speculative design exercise. The Unimatic watches were two separately named, limited-run divers distinguished chiefly by finish, edition size, and reported launch price. Keeping those categories separate avoids mistaking a wish list for product news or a launch-era snapshot for a current buying guide.
