Additional renders published on June 16, 2025, appeared to show Samsung’s Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic and a new Galaxy Watch Ultra variant. The “Ultra 2” name in the leak’s headline was explicitly uncertain: Samsung later announced the refreshed 2025 model as Galaxy Watch Ultra, without the number 2.
What did the leaked Galaxy Watch 8 renders show?
SamMobile reported that Evan Blass had shared additional, front-facing renders of three watches: the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic and a new Ultra variant. The images appeared to show Samsung carrying the squarish “cushion” case design—introduced with the first Galaxy Watch Ultra—across the lineup, while retaining a round display. The report also associated the watches with One UI 8 Watch and previewed health and fitness features; those were details from the leak coverage, not Samsung’s confirmation at the time.
The renders were a preview, not proof of a final product name or specifications. In particular, SamMobile cautioned that the Ultra variant might or might not launch as “Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.” SamMobile’s June 16, 2025 report is the source for what the images appeared to depict.
Was there an official Galaxy Watch Ultra 2?
Samsung’s July 9, 2025 announcement introduced the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic and called the third model Galaxy Watch Ultra, not Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Its July 29 design story described the 2025 Ultra refresh and highlighted a new Titanium Blue finish. So the leak previewed an Ultra variant, but the “Ultra 2” label was speculation rather than Samsung’s confirmed name.

Samsung said preorders began in select markets on July 9, 2025, and general availability began July 25. Those are the announced 2025 launch dates; availability of models, sizes and colors varies by market. Samsung’s launch announcement and Samsung Design’s series story establish the subsequent official names and descriptions.
How did the three official 2025 watches differ?
Samsung positioned the watches for different priorities. All three used its cushion-style case design, but the Classic’s physical rotating bezel and Quick Button gave it a distinct interaction style, while the Ultra was aimed at outdoor and adventure use.

Samsung described the Watch8’s reengineered internal structure as enabling an 11% thinner design, and listed peak display brightness at 3,000 nits. These are Samsung’s published product claims, not independent test results. The quoted sizes and thicknesses come from Samsung’s launch announcement; color and size options can vary by market.
What was distinctive about the Watch8 Classic?
The Classic combined a round watch face and cushion-shaped case with a physical rotating bezel, so users could navigate by turning the ring around the display. Samsung also identified a Quick Button on the case. In the leak report’s description of the renders, that button sat between the home/power and back buttons, giving the Classic three side buttons. Samsung’s later official design description confirmed the rotating bezel and Quick Button as defining parts of the model.

What did Samsung confirm about health and fitness features?
The leak report previewed health and fitness capabilities alongside its discussion of One UI 8 Watch. Samsung later published its own feature overview, including a Running Coach flow: the wearer completes a 12-minute run, receives a running-ability level on a 10-level scale, then gets a customized training program lasting three to five weeks. Samsung’s launch notes say Wear OS Powered by Samsung works with phones running Android 12 or later and with more than 1.5 GB of memory. Samsung cautions that compatibility can vary by market, carrier and phone brand, so check the current requirements for the watch and region before setup.
