Moto Watch 40: 10-Day Battery Claim, Google Fit Support and What to Know

Motorola introduced the Moto Watch 40 in February 2024 as a budget smartwatch for basic health tracking, notifications and long battery life. Its maker claims up to 10 days per charge under normal use, and says it can sync health and activity data with Google Fit through the companion app. It is not a Wear OS watch: its simpler Moto Watch OS does not offer the app-rich experience of a Pixel Watch or Galaxy Watch.

The U.S. launch price was $64.99; the Moto Watch store listed it at $74.99 when checked on August 16, 2026. Prices and availability can change.

What is the Moto Watch 40?

The Moto Watch 40 is a basic smartwatch and fitness tracker with a 1.57-inch LCD, heart-rate and SpO2 monitoring, sleep tracking, phone notifications and a claimed battery life of up to 10 days. It is aimed at people who want everyday tracking and infrequent charging, not a full smartwatch platform.

Although sold under the Motorola name, the Moto Watch 40 belongs to a watch line associated with CE Brands, a Motorola brand licensee, rather than Motorola’s own phone hardware operation. Android Central’s coverage discusses that licensing relationship.

Specifications are listed on the Moto Watch 40 product page, in its product specification sheet and in Moto Watch support documentation. The store lists 85+ watch faces, while the sheet describes 100 customization options; those figures do not establish that 100 downloadable faces are included.

How realistic is the 10-day battery claim?

Up to 10 days is the manufacturer’s estimate for normal use, not an independently verified runtime. The product page does not define “normal use,” and actual battery life can vary with notification volume, workouts, screen activation, measurement frequency, Bluetooth use and syncing.

The 240mAh battery and simpler LCD-and-proprietary-OS design are consistent with a watch focused on endurance rather than extensive smartwatch features, but they do not verify a particular runtime. The product sheet also claims a full charge takes approximately 25 minutes; that is a specification-sheet figure, not a measured result.

What does Google Fit support mean?

The Moto Watch 40 does not run Google Fit on the watch. Instead, the manufacturer says health and activity information—including sleep data—can sync to Google Fit through the Moto Watch companion app. That distinction matters: Google Fit support does not make the watch a Wear OS device or give it access to Google’s smartwatch app platform.

The integration is most relevant to Android users who already use Google Fit. The watch’s pairing guide documents Android and iOS pairing, but the available model-specific material does not establish a Google Fit workflow on iPhone. If Google Fit on iOS is essential, do not assume this watch will provide it.

Health and activity tracking

The watch advertises continuous heart-rate monitoring, SpO2 readings, steps, calories, distance, sleep stages (including REM, deep and light sleep), breathing exercises and more than 20 activity modes. Support documentation lists 23 modes. These are wellness and activity features, not medical diagnostics; the cited material does not independently validate sensor accuracy or sleep-stage estimates.

Built-in GPS is not listed in the cited specifications. As a result, buyers who need reliable route maps or standalone outdoor distance tracking should not assume the watch can provide them; location-based tracking may depend on a connected phone or be limited to sensor estimates.

Smart features—and what is not listed

Alongside tracking, the Moto Watch 40 offers phone notifications, weather information with a seven-day forecast summary, customizable watch faces and interchangeable straps. Its IP67 rating is a defined protection rating, not a blanket promise that it is suitable for swimming or diving.

The cited specifications do not list Wear OS, GPS, Wi-Fi, LTE, NFC payments, a microphone or speaker, music streaming, Google Assistant or third-party app installation. Treat those features as unavailable unless the seller or manufacturer confirms otherwise for the specific model. The practical trade-off is straightforward: less charging and a lower-cost, basic experience in exchange for fewer connected-watch capabilities.

Pairing and Google Fit troubleshooting

Pair the watch through its companion app

  1. Install the Moto Watch Lite app from Google Play or Apple’s App Store, then enable Bluetooth.
  2. Open the app and select Add Watch, then choose Moto Watch 40.
  3. If several devices appear, compare the final four digits shown in the app with the watch’s MAC address under Settings → About.
  4. Confirm pairing in the app. The Moto Watch 40 pairing guide advises starting in the companion app rather than pairing manually from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.

Motorola’s general pairing guidance says a Moto or Google account may be required for full Android setup; see its phone-pairing support page.

If Google Fit is not updating

  • Confirm the watch is paired in Moto Watch Lite and that the app is connected to the Google account you intend to use.
  • Check the app’s permissions for relevant activity and health data, then open the app and trigger a manual sync.
  • Check Google Fit after the sync completes. The exact Profile → Connected Apps instructions in Moto Watch support are for the Moto Watch 100, not specifically the Watch 40, so treat that menu path as an ecosystem example rather than a verified Watch 40 route: Google Fit sync guide.
  • Sync any unsent activity before resetting the watch. Moto Watch support warns that a reset before synchronization can erase activity data; see its activity-tracking guidance.

Price, colors and availability

The Moto Watch 40 launched in the U.S. in February 2024 at $64.99, according to contemporary launch coverage. The U.S. Moto Watch store page listed it for $74.99 on August 16, 2026. The product is offered in Phantom Black and Rose Gold; check the seller for current price, stock and regional availability.

Who should consider the Moto Watch 40?

It may suit buyers who want a lightweight watch for everyday steps, sleep, basic workouts, notifications and Android-side Google Fit syncing, and who value the manufacturer’s long-battery claim more than a broad app selection.

Look elsewhere if you need built-in GPS, contactless payments, calls, music, an app store, advanced training tools or a richer smartwatch platform. It is also a cautious choice for iPhone owners whose specific requirement is Google Fit: general iOS pairing is documented, but that particular data workflow is not established for this model.

The Moto Watch 40’s appeal is a restrained feature set and claimed endurance at a budget price—not parity with a Samsung Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch or Apple Watch. Motorola’s Moto Watch 40 support index and software-update guide provide support materials, but do not establish how long future updates will continue.
