What makes the Mu:n Orion distinctive?

Launch coverage describes the moon as a crater-textured disc and the dial as a multi-level composition with applied luminous markers. Europa Star’s October 2024 campaign-era account credits AJS Production with the specialized display work. It reports that the display begins with a luminescent base, receives layers of paint, and is then selectively exposed with a fine laser to create differently glowing areas across the moon’s surface. This is the reported manufacturing method, not an independently examined production process.
How does the moonphase display work?
A moonphase complication tracks the moon’s changing illuminated portion as seen from Earth. In a conventional watch, a rotating disc with two moons moves beneath an aperture; the visible portion changes as the disc advances. The Orion’s visual emphasis is its luminous moon and surrounding star field, but the available launch accounts do not explain the mechanism’s precise cycle, adjustment procedure, or accuracy. Do not assume that the dramatic dial treatment changes how the underlying moonphase complication is set or maintained.

Published figures changed between the pre-campaign preview and the campaign-era account. They should be treated as separate reported configurations, not combined into a single definitive specification sheet.

What do the dimensions suggest about wear?
The campaign-era figures—38 mm across and 46 mm lug-to-lug—point to a relatively compact footprint on paper, while 10.6 mm thickness would sit lower than the 12.5 mm thickness in the earlier preview. Those numbers can help with an initial size comparison, but they do not substitute for trying it on: lug shape, case curvature, and strap or bracelet fit affect how a watch wears. No independent wrist test is established here.

The Mu:n Watches Kickstarter campaign ran from September 30 to October 20, 2024. Its campaign record lists 470 backers and €512,266 pledged against a €50,000 goal. These figures describe that completed campaign, not current availability or ongoing sales.

What were the launch prices, and are they current?
The figures reported before and during the campaign differed. Fratello’s July 2024 preview anticipated a retail price of about €1,350 and a Kickstarter launch price below €1,000, both excluding VAT. Europa Star’s October 2024 campaign-era account instead listed €1,550 retail and €960 on Kickstarter, excluding VAT. They are dated estimates and campaign-era prices, not current quotes.
