MWC 2025 Wearables: What Launched in Barcelona—and What Didn’t

MWC 2025 delivered a few notable watches, many smart-glasses demonstrations and fewer confirmed launches than the rumors suggested. Here is what actually appeared—and what buyers could realistically consider.

MWC Barcelona 2025 was not a major smartwatch-launch event. The clearest conventional products were Xiaomi’s global-market introduction of the Watch S4, Honor’s Watch 5 Ultra and Mibro’s new sports-watch range. The more futuristic story came from TCL RayNeo glasses, Tecno’s AI-glasses demonstration, Samsung’s Project Moohan XR headset and Xpanceo’s experimental contact lenses.

Because MWC ran from March 3–6, 2025, this is now a retrospective rather than an unresolved preview. It separates products that launched, products introduced to new markets, demonstrations and predictions that never became confirmed MWC releases.

What MWC 2025 meant for wearable technology

MWC Barcelona is primarily a mobile-connectivity and telecommunications event, not a dedicated smartwatch show. Many products displayed there are regional introductions, engineering demonstrations or concepts rather than devices that immediately ship worldwide.

That distinction mattered in 2025. Major companies focused heavily on artificial intelligence, phones, networks and ecosystem software. Wearables were present, but the event produced fewer finished consumer launches than the pre-show speculation suggested. Its importance was mainly directional:

  • Premium watches continued to emphasize stronger materials and longer battery life.
  • Smart glasses became the most visible future-facing wearable category.
  • AI and extended reality were presented as the next layer of mobile computing.

Samsung confirmed that MWC Barcelona 2025 took place at Fira Gran Via from March 3 to March 6. Samsung’s event coverage also positioned its XR work within a broader Android-XR and AI strategy.

The wearable products that actually mattered

Xiaomi Watch S4: the clearest global-market smartwatch arrival

Status: existing product introduced to global markets.

The Xiaomi Watch S4 was not a completely new MWC reveal: it had already launched in China. Its importance in Barcelona was the move toward international availability, making it the most relevant conventional smartwatch for readers who wanted a real product rather than a concept.

  • 1.43-inch display
  • 466 × 466 resolution
  • 486mAh battery
  • Interchangeable bezels
  • Reported peak brightness of 2,200 nits, up from 600 nits on the preceding model

The interchangeable bezel system gives the watch a more visible physical-customization angle than many similarly priced rivals. The large battery and bright display are also practical advantages, particularly for outdoor use, although battery claims depend on settings and usage.

Buyers should not confuse a global introduction with universal availability. Xiaomi’s regional stores, software features, payment services and warranty coverage differ by country. The company’s regional Watch S4 page also notes ecosystem requirements: some smart-home functions depend on compatible Xiaomi phones, HyperOS versions and the Mi Fitness or Xiaomi Home apps.

Best suited to: Android users who want a bright, conventional smartwatch with long claimed endurance and Xiaomi ecosystem features.

Check before buying: iPhone feature support, NFC-payment availability, health features enabled in your country, app compatibility, warranty coverage and whether the exact international model differs from the Chinese version.

Honor Watch 5 Ultra: a premium-materials challenger

Status: announced and presented at MWC; market availability varies.

Honor used MWC 2025 to position the Watch 5 Ultra as a high-end alternative to premium watches from Huawei, Garmin, Samsung and Apple. Reported headline features included an aerospace-grade titanium case, sapphire crystal, an octagonal design and up to 15 days of claimed battery life.

The materials are attractive, but they do not by themselves establish that the watch is the better buy. The important questions are whether it is officially sold in your country, how well it works with your phone, how long Honor will support its software and which health features are available locally.

The 15-day figure should also be treated as a manufacturer claim based on a particular usage profile. Always-on display, frequent exercise tracking, GPS, continuous health monitoring and cellular connectivity can reduce endurance substantially.

Best suited to: Buyers who value a large premium watch with long claimed battery life and are in a market with official Honor support.

Check before buying: iPhone compatibility, third-party app support, payments, onboard maps, LTE, regional health features and the precise conditions behind the battery claim. Honor’s official product page is the appropriate starting point for regional details.

Mibro GS Explorer S, GS Pro 2 and GS Active 2

Status: new sports-watch products presented or promoted for MWC.

Mibro brought a value-oriented alternative to the premium watch announcements. Its range included the GS Explorer S, GS Pro 2 and GS Active 2. The Explorer S had been teased before the event and was associated with Bluetooth calling. Mibro also promoted professional smartwatches, kids’ watch phones and open wearable stereo products.

These watches should not automatically be treated as Apple Watch or Garmin replacements. Their appeal is lower-cost access to outdoor styling, sports tracking and features such as Bluetooth calls. The real buying decision depends on software quality and support rather than the feature list alone.

Before choosing one, verify:

  • GPS accuracy and battery life with GPS enabled
  • Training metrics and route or navigation support
  • Water-resistance rating
  • Reliability of Bluetooth calling
  • Companion-app quality and firmware-update history
  • Local warranty service, replacement straps and shipping

Mibro’s event announcement confirms the company’s MWC presentation, but an event appearance is not proof of equal availability in every country.

Smart glasses: the show’s more futuristic category

“Smart glasses” covered several substantially different products at MWC 2025. A wearable display, camera-and-voice assistant, augmented-reality headset and research prototype should not be judged by the same criteria.

TCL RayNeo Air 3S, X3 Pro and V3

Status: demonstrations and product introductions; category and availability vary.

TCL RayNeo showed the Air 3S, X3 Pro and V3. The Air 3S is closer to a wearable display: it places a large virtual screen in front of the wearer for entertainment, gaming or productivity. The X3 Pro and V3 represent different approaches to glasses-based computing and should not all be described as fully autonomous augmented-reality glasses.

Potential buyers should establish exactly what each model does:

Pulsetto FIT (V2) Wellness Wearable – Relaxation, Sleep & Daily Wellness Support Device
  • RELAX IN SHORT, EASY SESSIONS – Pulsetto FIT is designed for brief daily use, offering calming moments through comfortable 4–10 minute sessions that fit easily into your routine - at home or on the go
  • MODERN WEARABLE FOR RELAXATION – Featuring a lightweight, ergonomic design, Pulsetto FIT offers an easy way to unwind and support everyday balance whenever you want a moment to reset
  • THE PULSETTO APP IS INCLUDED: Pulsetto FIT comes with the Pulsetto app, so you can start your first session right away. It includes 5 core wellness programs (Stress, Sleep, Calm, Focus, Release), integration with Apple Health, Garmin, Whoop, Oura and more, and offline mode
  • MAKE IT YOUR OWN WITH PREMIUM: Choose optional Premium to take your experience further. It adds 4 additional programs, a personalized daily plan, 54 breathing sessions, 1,200+ affirmations, Stress Resilience Score tracking to follow your progress, and AI Wellness chat for personalized guidance
  • DESIGNED FOR EVERYDAY WELLNESS USE – Pulsetto FIT delivers gentle, non-invasive pulses designed for general wellness use, creating a calming addition to your daily routine or evening wind-down
  • Does it need a phone, computer, cable or external battery?
  • What is the field of view?
  • Is the display usable outdoors in bright sunlight?
  • Are prescription lenses supported?
  • Which functions work without a cloud connection?
  • What privacy controls exist for cameras and microphones?

Wearable displays can be compelling for media but are not necessarily replacements for ordinary glasses. Narrower-than-expected viewing areas, cable dependence, limited prescription support and unclear regional software availability can turn an impressive demonstration into a poor purchase.

RayNeo’s official website should be used to confirm whether a specific model has a current price, buy button and shipping destination.

Tecno AI Glasses Pro

Status: AI-glasses demonstration or emerging product, not automatically a mass-market launch.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tecno presented its AI Glasses Pro as part of the industry’s push toward camera, microphone and voice-assistant wearables. That does not establish that the glasses were broadly available to buy, nor that their AI worked independently of a phone or cloud service.

Before considering them, check for a confirmed launch date, price, supported countries, offline functions, cloud requirements, response latency and privacy controls. Availability and software support are especially important for readers outside Tecno’s strongest markets. Tecno’s official site is the appropriate source for current retail information.

Xpanceo smart contact lenses

Status: experimental concept.

Xpanceo’s smart contact lenses belong in a future-technology section, not a buying guide. A demonstration does not mean consumers can order a safe, approved product.

Smart contact lenses face unusually difficult engineering and regulatory problems: power delivery, heat management, biocompatibility, wireless communication, manufacturing consistency, clinical safety and regulatory approval. No responsible buying recommendation can be made from the MWC demonstration.

Samsung Project Moohan and Android XR

Status: XR headset demonstration, not a confirmed smartwatch or mass-market wearable launch.

Samsung showcased Project Moohan, its first XR headset, alongside Galaxy AI and other mobile products. It belongs in a broad account of head-worn technology, but it should be separated from watches, rings and fitness trackers.

The significance was strategic: Samsung was showing a possible Android-XR ecosystem and AI-driven future for computing. Unless a product has a confirmed price, order page and shipping date, however, a show-floor demonstration should not be treated as a retail release. Samsung’s official MWC announcement describes Project Moohan in that strategic context.

Rumors versus reality

Pre-show expectation What the event established
Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 No confirmed MWC 2025 launch. It remained speculation.
Xiaomi Watch 3 No clear confirmed MWC launch.
Xiaomi Watch S4 The clearest smartwatch story: an existing model moving toward global-market availability.
Huawei Band 10 Already announced before MWC; the event was not necessarily a first reveal.
Oppo Air Glass 4 No confirmed consumer launch in the available post-event coverage. Do not confuse it with the earlier Air Glass 3 prototype.
Mibro GS Explorer S Confirmed as part of Mibro’s MWC wearable presentation.

The pre-show predictions were based on varying levels of evidence. The Galaxy Ring 2 was plausible because Samsung had used MWC 2024 to show the original Galaxy Ring, but there was no firm MWC 2025 confirmation. The distinction matters: an absent rumor is not a delayed product launch.

What to check before buying an MWC wearable

For smartwatches

  1. Phone compatibility: Apple Watch is primarily an iPhone product, while Wear OS generally targets Android. Xiaomi, Honor and Huawei watches may work across platforms but can lose features outside their preferred ecosystems.
  2. Real-world battery conditions: Compare claims only after accounting for GPS, always-on display, LTE and continuous health monitoring.
  3. Health-feature status: Wellness estimates are not the same as clinically validated or regulated functions. ECG, blood oxygen and blood-pressure features may vary by country.
  4. Software longevity: Check update support, app quality, replacement straps and service before prioritizing case materials.
  5. Connectivity and payments: Bluetooth calling is not cellular independence, and NFC payments depend on country, bank and platform support.
  6. Outdoor capability: Serious outdoor use calls for evidence about GPS, mapping, elevation data, route navigation, water resistance and physical controls.

For smart glasses

  • Identify whether the product is a wearable screen, AI camera glasses or a true AR device.
  • Check whether it requires a phone, computer, cable, proprietary battery or cloud account.
  • Verify field of view, outdoor brightness and prescription-lens support.
  • Review camera and microphone privacy controls.
  • Confirm official retail status, return policy, regional software and warranty coverage.

The verdict

MWC 2025 was more revealing about the direction of wearable technology than about immediate consumer purchases. Xiaomi’s Watch S4 was the clearest conventional smartwatch arrival, while Honor’s Watch 5 Ultra offered a premium-materials alternative and Mibro presented lower-cost sports-watch options subject to regional availability and software support.

Smart glasses and XR received more attention as the industry’s future-facing story, but TCL’s products, Tecno’s AI glasses and Samsung’s Project Moohan should be evaluated according to their actual category and retail status—not simply because they appeared at MWC. Xpanceo’s contact lenses remained experimental technology.

The practical lesson is simple: “shown at MWC” does not mean “released at MWC,” and “global launch” does not mean “available in every country.” Check the exact regional model, phone compatibility, warranty, health-feature approvals and shipping status before treating any MWC announcement as a buying recommendation.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
