OMEGA currently lists an official white VELCRO version, reference 032CWZ016041, but its 20 mm lug width and 200/25 mm length do not make it a universal fit. Check your exact Speedmaster reference and the strap’s local availability before buying.
What does “NASA strap” mean?
It describes the distinctive long, adjustable hook-and-loop style associated with wearing a watch over a spacesuit. The phrase is also used for modern branded straps and aftermarket interpretations; it does not by itself establish that a particular strap was issued by NASA or flown in space.
OMEGA says NASA declared the Speedmaster “Flight Qualified for all Manned Space Missions” on March 1, 1965, in the brand’s 2025 retrospective: OMEGA’s 60-year retrospective. That history explains the association between the Speedmaster and NASA, but it is not evidence that OMEGA’s currently listed strap is the exact strap used in the 1960s.
OMEGA’s official white NASA VELCRO strap
OMEGA’s Hong Kong regional listing identifies a white, two-piece VELCRO strap for the Speedmaster Moonwatch as reference 032CWZ016041. It has NASA “meatball” and Speedmaster logos on the front and an OMEGA logo on the back. See the OMEGA product listing for the regional product details.

Official OMEGA strap or aftermarket reproduction?
Both can deliver the recognizable NASA-inspired look, but their documented provenance and details are different. Fratello’s 2018 article described a German fan’s reproduction as based on original specifications and using VELCRO brand fastener. That account supports calling it an aftermarket interpretation; it does not establish NASA approval, current availability, or a fit for every Speedmaster.

There is no documented comparative test here for comfort, durability, or historical accuracy, so those qualities should not be assumed from the “NASA” label or from the use of a particular fastener.
How to check fit before buying
- Identify your exact Speedmaster reference. Do not rely only on “Moonwatch” or the Speedmaster name; model versions can differ.
- Confirm the lug width. The OMEGA listing specifies 20 mm. Measure or verify your watch’s lug width against its official specifications.
- Check the strap’s length and hardware. OMEGA lists 200/25 mm, straight spring bars, and an oval ring loop. Ask the seller how their dimensions are stated if you are considering another strap.
- Verify local availability and return terms. The OMEGA listing is regional, and a historical article about an independent reproduction does not confirm that it is still for sale.
Searching for a generic NASA-style strap
“20 mm NASA style Speedmaster watch strap” is a useful starting search phrase, not a compatibility guarantee or a specific product recommendation. Treat third-party listings as separate from OMEGA reference 032CWZ016041, compare their stated dimensions with your watch, and confirm the seller’s fit and return policy.

Why “Speedy Tuesday” appears with the strap
“NASA Strap For Your Speedmaster” was the title of Robert-Jan Broer’s Fratello article published April 24, 2018. The same introduction notes that OMEGA and Fratello developed the first Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition for 2017, inspired in part by the radial-dial Alaska III model associated with the Space Shuttle program.
