How the two 2025 Santos models differ
The key distinction is material and appearance: choose WSSA0089 for the titanium case and silvered dial, or WSSA0096 for the steel case and black dial with luminous hands. Cartier lists both as large automatic Santos watches powered by calibre 1847 MC.

WSSA0089: titanium with a silvered opaline dial
Cartier’s titanium Santos keeps the collection’s familiar Roman-numeral dial layout, with a silvered opaline face and blue steel sword-shaped hands. The case and bracelet are titanium, and Cartier supplies an additional nubuck alligator strap. QuickSwitch allows the wearer to change between the bracelet and strap.

The watch measures 47.5 × 39.8 mm and is 9.38 mm thick. Cartier lists water resistance to 10 bar and, on its UK specification panel, a 40-hour power reserve. That reserve figure is specifically stated on the UK product page.
WSSA0096: steel with a black luminous dial treatment
The black-dial Santos is reference WSSA0096, and its case and bracelet are steel—not titanium. Cartier describes a black dial with black steel sword-shaped hands containing luminescent material. The hands’ dark finish gives the watch a different visual treatment from the titanium model’s blue hands; the available specifications do not establish comparative brightness or low-light performance.

Its listed dimensions match WSSA0089: 47.5 × 39.8 mm, with a thickness of 9.38 mm and water resistance to 10 bar. The steel bracelet has Cartier’s SmartLink adjustment system, and an additional nubuck alligator strap is included. Both bracelet and strap use QuickSwitch.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose WSSA0089 if the titanium case and bracelet, silvered opaline dial and blue hands are the combination you want.
- Choose WSSA0096 if you want the black dial and luminous black hands, and are happy with a steel case and bracelet.
- Compare the exact reference before buying. Search listings by WSSA0089 or WSSA0096; “titanium Santos with black dial” can wrongly combine features from two separate watches.
Both models offer the same listed case dimensions and 10-bar water resistance, as well as automatic calibre 1847 MC and QuickSwitch strap changes. Cartier’s regional product pages may differ in displayed details: the UK WSSA0089 page states a 40-hour power reserve, while the cited Canadian WSSA0096 page does not state one.
