Hublot’s Big Bang Original gets a major mechanical update: the collection now pairs its 2005-inspired design with the automatic HUB1280 Unico flyback chronograph. A January 2026 launch report lists four material versions, all measuring 43 mm across and 13.2 mm thick, with 100 m water resistance.
What is new about the Big Bang Original Unico?
The defining change is the movement. Thomas Van Straaten reported for Fratello Watches on January 19, 2026 that Hublot had brought its manufacture HUB1280 Unico movement to the Big Bang Original collection. The report contrasts the new caliber with earlier Big Bang Original models that used a modified Valjoux-based chronograph movement.
The update retains design cues associated with the 2005 Big Bang Original: rectangular chronograph pushers, a layered case, and rubber elements on the case and crown. The dial is checkered, with applied Arabic numerals and baton indexes, plus a date window at 4:30. A front-facing one-click mechanism releases the integrated rubber strap.
What does the HUB1280 movement offer?
Fratello identifies the HUB1280 as an automatic flyback chronograph with manual winding and hacking seconds. Its reported specifications are:

The listed construction also includes a sapphire crystal and sapphire display caseback. The report describes the movement and principal specifications as shared, so the material choice is the main distinction between versions—not a different caliber or stated level of chronograph performance.
