Contemporary reviewers praised its metal-and-glass design and considered its basic performance reasonable for its roughly $108–$120 launch-era price. In 2026, however, its Android 5.0-era software, 3G-focused radio specifications, aging non-removable battery and uncertain support make it a poor choice as a primary phone. It may still interest collectors or repair hobbyists, but only after careful checks.
What is the No.1 S6i?
The No.1 S6i is a No.1-branded Android smartphone from 2015, marketed around its resemblance to Samsung’s Galaxy S6. It is a clone in appearance, not a Galaxy S6 variant: it uses a low-end MediaTek platform and a different Android build rather than Samsung hardware and software. The original Galaxy S6 comparison is useful for understanding the gap between the design and the internals, but both phones are now old devices.
GizChina’s 2015 review put the S6i at about $119, with a temporary offer around $108, versus roughly $650 for a base Galaxy S6 in that comparison. These are historical prices, not a guide to present-day value or evidence of current stock. The phone’s availability and dependable manufacturer support are not established.
No.1 S6i specifications: what reviews reported
Contemporary reviews and specification listings do not agree on every component. Treat these as reported configurations, not a verified specification sheet for every surviving handset.

| Component | Reported details | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|

| microSD | Android Headlines says there is no slot; GizChina mentions a possible slot that may require removing the rear cover | Reports conflict. Inspect the specific handset. |
| Rear and front cameras | Rear: 13MP in GizChina, 16MP in Android Headlines. Front: 5MP in both reports. | The rear-camera figure is unresolved; megapixels alone do not establish image quality. |
| Battery | Advertised as 2,800mAh | GizChina questioned whether the claimed capacity was accurate. The battery is non-removable. |
| SIM and cellular bands | Single nano-SIM reported by GizChina; GSM quad-band and WCDMA 850/2100 reported | These historical specifications do not establish compatibility with any current carrier. |

Design and build: its strongest argument
The S6i’s main appeal was its Galaxy S6-like appearance. Reviewers praised its metal frame, glass front and back, slim shape, side buttons and curved screen edges. GizChina considered the build unusually impressive for a phone at its original price, while Android Headlines noted how closely its dimensions and feel followed the Samsung design.
That praise describes 2015 review samples, not every used S6i today. Glass attracts fingerprints, the camera bump can be exposed to scratches or impacts, and Android Headlines noted play in the home button on its sample. After more than a decade, a surviving handset may also have cracked glass, weakened adhesive or battery damage. Condition matters more than the original review’s impression.
Display: a 720p LCD, not a flagship panel
The S6i’s roughly 5-inch 720p IPS LCD was usable, with reviewers noting good viewing angles and generally acceptable colour. It nevertheless has far fewer pixels than the genuine Galaxy S6’s 1440p Super AMOLED panel. That means less fine detail, while LCD blacks and contrast do not produce the same effect as AMOLED. The S6i’s curved-edge styling is visual; it does not make the panel equivalent to Samsung’s flagship display.
Performance and software
Basic tasks were acceptable in 2015
The MT6582 and 1GB of RAM could handle routine use such as calls, messaging, browsing, video playback and simple games in contemporary reviewers’ observations. They also impose clear limits: reviewers saw app reloads and occasional hitching, and heavier tasks were a poor fit even then. Those are observations from 2015, not modern benchmark results.
By 2026, the combination is unsuitable for many current applications and demanding games. Performance may also be constrained by the phone’s age, condition and available storage. Do not assume that an app available on a newer Android phone will install or work here.

Android 5.0-era software with Samsung-like styling
Reviews describe Android 5.0 or 5.0.1 with an interface that imitates some Samsung TouchWiz elements, including familiar-looking dialer, messaging, camera, settings and notification screens. Reported extras included S Voice-style, heart-rate and IR-control applications. Those similarities do not provide Samsung’s software ecosystem: sources describe missing or incomplete features such as theme support and multi-window, and there is no credible evidence of modern Android updates for the S6i.
Google Play certification is uncertain for individual devices, and preinstalled software may vary. Android 5.0 is also too old to promise support for current banking, authentication or streaming apps. Do not use the phone for sensitive accounts unless the relevant app and service explicitly support it—and do not mistake that for evidence that the handset is secure.
Camera: conflicting megapixel claims
GizChina reported a 13MP rear camera, while Android Headlines listed 16MP. The discrepancy could reflect different batches, interpolation or inaccurate product information; the available reports do not settle it. Both list a 5MP front camera.
In their 2015 hands-on assessments, reviewers found the camera acceptable for the price, with a responsive shutter and usable daylight results. They also described focusing difficulty and a low-frame-rate viewfinder. These reports do not establish how a particular used unit performs now, and megapixel counts are not a reliable substitute for image quality.
Battery life: separate the old test from today’s condition
The advertised capacity was 2,800mAh, but GizChina questioned whether that figure was accurate because the reviewer did not open the phone to inspect the cell. That review estimated around 8–10 hours of use under its own conditions and said heavy use drained it faster. Android Headlines reported that ordinary use could last a day, while intensive setup and sustained activity depleted the battery quickly. These are differing 2015 review observations, not a prediction for a handset now.
The S6i has a non-removable battery, and any original cell is now very old. A phone that still boots can have poor battery health. Do not charge or use a visibly swollen battery: swelling is a safety hazard. Replacement-cell availability and quality are uncertain, so do not assume a repair will be straightforward.

Calls and network compatibility: historical 3G is not a current guarantee
Reported cellular support centers on GSM and WCDMA/3G, including WCDMA 850/2100 in GizChina’s review. Android Headlines discussed HSPA service and U.S. carrier compatibility in the context of 2015. That historical evidence does not establish that the phone will register on a current network.
3G service has changed substantially since then, and the available evidence does not establish LTE, VoLTE, emergency-calling support or current carrier certification for the S6i. Before considering it for calls, check the exact handset’s bands and IMEI with the carrier you intend to use, and confirm that the carrier accepts its network and VoLTE configuration. Do not rely on an old compatibility claim or assume a SIM adapter can add missing radio capabilities.
Extra features: interesting, but limited
IR blaster
The S6i was reported to include an IR blaster and a WatchOn-style remote-control app. Whether it can control a television or set-top box depends on the hardware, app and device database; an old bundled app may no longer work correctly. Infrared control also does not provide Wi-Fi or smart-home control by itself.
Heart-rate sensor
Reviews describe a heart-rate sensor and companion app; Android Headlines said it functioned similarly to the Galaxy S6 feature during its brief testing. That observation is not a measurement of accuracy or medical validation. Do not use it to make diagnosis or treatment decisions.
Headphone jack and buttons
The reported 3.5mm headphone jack and physical controls may be useful for offline listening or basic operation, provided the individual handset works. These conveniences do not offset the phone’s age or software limitations.
No.1 S6i versus Samsung Galaxy S6
The S6i borrows the Galaxy S6’s visual language, but the central differences are functional, not cosmetic.
| Category | No.1 S6i | Samsung Galaxy S6 |
|---|---|---|
| Display | About 5.0–5.1-inch 720p IPS LCD, according to contemporary S6i reviews | 5.1-inch 2,560 × 1,440 Super AMOLED, as described in contemporary comparisons |
| Processor | MediaTek MT6582, quad-core 1.3GHz | Samsung flagship-class platform; a comparable chip specification is not stated in the cited S6i reviews. |
| RAM | 1GB reported | Not stated in the cited S6i reviews. |
| Rear camera | Reported as 13MP or 16MP, depending on source | Not stated in the cited S6i reviews. |
| Software | Android 5.0/5.0.1 with Samsung-like styling; not Samsung software | Samsung’s Galaxy S6 software and ecosystem |
| Original price context | About $108–$120 in a 2015 report | Roughly $650 for the base model in the same contemporary comparison |
| Current usability | Legacy software, uncertain network support and likely aged battery | Also an old phone; current network and app suitability are not established by the cited S6i reviews. |
The comparison shows why appearance alone is a poor guide: the S6i was a lower-cost imitation, not a budget version of Samsung’s hardware platform. The price figures are historical, and neither should be read as a current valuation.
Quick Recap
Buying checklist and common failure points
- Confirm identity: Check the model number in Android settings, chassis and boot branding, and processor information with a trusted diagnostic app. Verify the IMEI and baseband. A listing that calls it a Samsung Galaxy S6 may be misleading.
- Inspect the battery and body: Look for swelling, lifted back glass, cracks, damaged ports and a protruding camera module. Do not charge a visibly swollen phone.
- Check the actual configuration: Verify storage in settings and inspect for a microSD slot rather than trusting conflicting listings. Confirm that the cameras, buttons, speaker, headphone jack and charging port work.
- Test before paying: If possible, boot the phone, check its IMEI, connect to Wi-Fi, make a test call on the intended carrier and confirm the apps you need can install. A successful Wi-Fi connection does not establish cellular compatibility.
- Assess software risk: Treat claims of modern Android or Samsung features skeptically. Do not count on banking, authentication, streaming or security-sensitive apps.
- Be cautious with firmware: Third-party pages list ROM packages named No.1_S6i_MT6582_5.0 and an S109 variant, but their existence does not establish manufacturer support. A wrong ROM, scatter file, preloader or hardware revision can erase data or brick the phone. If flashing is unavoidable, confirm the exact model and revision, record the build and baseband, back up data, preserve original firmware if possible, use a reputable malware-scanned source, and stop if the partition layout does not match. Do not flash a package simply because its filename includes “S6i,” especially when the device’s IMEI is uncertain. A listed firmware resource is available at Firmwareoficial’s No.1 S6i page; it is a third-party source, not proof of official support.
Who might still want one?
- Collector: A low-cost example may be interesting as a 2015 Galaxy S6 clone, provided its condition and identity are clear.
- Repair hobbyist: It may suit experimentation if you accept uncertain parts and firmware risks, and do not depend on it for essential use.
- Offline or backup-device buyer: Consider it only if a newer, more supportable phone is not practical, the battery is safe, and you can use it without relying on cellular service or current apps.
- Primary-phone buyer: Avoid it. A newer used or entry-level phone with verified LTE or 5G, VoLTE support for your carrier, better battery prospects and current software is a more practical comparison.
- Seller or reseller: Describe it accurately as a No.1 S6i clone, state the observed software and configuration, and disclose battery, network and repair limitations. Do not advertise it as a Samsung Galaxy S6.
