Samsung displayed the Galaxy Ring at its first Samsung Health Partner Day on May 28, 2024, but the appearance was a preview, not a launch or hands-on demonstration. The event’s larger purpose was to bring healthcare, medical and investment partners into Samsung’s expanding health platform; Samsung did not announce the ring’s final price or full specifications.
What was Samsung Health Partner Day?
Samsung held the event on May 28, 2024, at the Gravity Seoul Pangyo Hotel in Seongnam, South Korea. Samsung described it as its first Health Partner Day and said approximately 200 industry participants attended, including representatives from healthcare companies, medical institutions and investment firms. The gathering was intended to discuss expansion of the Samsung Health ecosystem and opportunities for collaboration. Samsung Newsroom Korea reported the event details.
What happened with the Galaxy Ring?
Samsung confirmed that the unreleased Galaxy Ring was displayed at the event and said at the time that it was planned for release in the second half of 2024. Contemporary reports by Android Headlines and SamMobile said the ring was kept behind glass. There was no ordinary consumer hands-on session documented in those reports, and the display did not amount to a product briefing with final retail details.
Those reports also described seven apparent size variants on display, compared with nine seen at Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier that year. These were observations of display units, not confirmation of the final retail size range.

Samsung’s main announcement was about its health platform
The ring was the most visible hardware hook, but Samsung’s announcement focused on the broader Samsung Health ecosystem. The company described a “Connected Care” vision linking people with mobile products and services, with health areas including sleep, exercise, diet and mental health. It also emphasized open collaboration rather than treating Samsung Health only as a companion service for Galaxy devices.
The Samsung Health SDK and outside developers
Samsung introduced the Samsung Health SDK as part of its developer and partner agenda. The event announcement establishes that the SDK was presented, but does not set out its complete API permissions, eligibility rules or commercial terms. Its presence nevertheless signaled that developers and health businesses were being invited into Samsung’s platform plans.

Sessions on AI and health applications
Sessions covered AI’s role in healthcare as well as sleep, sports technology, medical AI and blood-glucose management. These were event topics and collaboration areas; their inclusion does not establish that the Galaxy Ring diagnoses medical conditions, measures glucose, or has clinical validation.
Why the event mattered beyond the ring
Samsung’s choice of audience and agenda points to a strategy broader than selling another wearable. Bringing healthcare companies, medical institutions and investors together, while presenting a developer SDK and discussing health applications, suggested an effort to connect Samsung hardware and software with external services and partners. That is an interpretation of the event’s structure and Samsung’s stated ecosystem goals, not evidence that any particular clinical partnership or regulatory approval was announced.

The ring helped make that strategy tangible. A ring form factor could complement phones and watches by collecting health-related data in a different, potentially more discreet way. But the event established no performance result or specific role for the ring beyond its place in Samsung’s health-platform presentation.

Samsung had first displayed the Galaxy Ring at MWC in February 2024. At Health Partner Day, the ring appeared again before its planned release, but in a setting centered on Samsung Health partners, developers and healthcare topics. The emphasis had shifted from introducing the hardware’s existence to situating it within a wider ecosystem. Neither appearance, on its own, supplied final consumer specifications.

What Samsung had not revealed at Health Partner Day
The event did not establish the information a shopper would need to evaluate the ring as a finished product:
- Final price or a confirmed retail date. Samsung’s second-half-of-2024 timing was a plan stated at the time, not proof of when sales ultimately began.
- A complete sensor list, a complete battery-life claim or a detailed compatibility matrix.
- Confirmed medical-diagnostic capabilities or clinical status.
- The final retail size inventory. The reported number of display units should not be read as that inventory.
- Evidence that attendees could wear or test the ring in a normal consumer hands-on session.
Because this was a May 2024 event, its planned release timing and missing product details are historical context, not a statement of the Galaxy Ring’s current price, availability or support.
